**Project Controls**

Firma Contracting is an underground utility contractor currently working on underground rehab / replacement projects located in Edmonton. We have an exciting opportunity to work with our project management team in Project Controls.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Controls position is responsible for the following primary areas: reporting related to project schedule, resource allocation and maximization, project costs in relation to LEM preparation and submission, subcontractor agreements, PO’s, vendor accounts, and document control support as it relates to these areas.

Project Controls is a collaborative team player, focused on the strategic objectives of the company through progress billing, job costing, scheduling and project administration.

**Responsibilities**

Responsibilities of this position include:

- Overall responsibility for compliance of assigned projects with project controls standards - both from applicable contract documents and from project controls policies/guidelines
- Participate in developing, establishing, and maintaining the company’s project cost /control systems
- Participate in proposal and estimating efforts to ensure continuity between project estimates and baselines
- Develop & maintain a detailed, resource-loaded schedule
- Assist the project team in converting project bids to setting up the complete, accurate project baseline (budget, schedule), in the company’s accounting and project management platforms
- Set up project controls systems (cost codes, project rules of credit)
- Review the project contract and ensure that all the contract conditions (invoicing, reporting, change management, etc.) are applied and fulfilled for project set-up, project tracking and reporting, and project closeout
- Monitor the project performance and ensure that all the project control system is properly implemented; responsible for detailed review & analysis of earned value and other key performance indices
- Generate all required project status reports for internal management and for the customer, including the overall project analysis and project performance report
- Administer & support change management for assigned projects, in compliance with contract conditions (subcontractor claims, change requests, dispute resolution, etc.)
- Review and analyze the cost & schedule reports with the project team, and suggest corrective actions to maintain reasonable performance/productivity; provide timely feedback to project managers with regards to activities trending away from the baseline or forecast
- Prepare and update project cash flows and forecasts
- Perform other duties as required by the Project Manager.

**Required Qualifications**
- Completion of an engineering degree or CET diploma is preferred
- 2+ years of project controls / project costing / project coordination experience is preferred
- Ability to read plans/blueprints and specifications
- Familiarity working on a construction site is required
- Water & sewer (underground utility) exposure is a huge asset
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Highly organized and efficient with managing deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
