**Responsibilities**:
The Manager, Student Engagement, under the direction of the Director, Student Engagement, will design and implement transformative student engagement experiences that foster student success, belonging, and leadership development. The role will focus on creating an inclusive and thriving environment through the development of student programming and year-long initiatives for student leaders, contributing to their personal growth, community involvement, and academic success. The Manager will also cultivate and maintain strong relationships with campus departments, student organizations, and external partners, facilitating cross-functional collaboration to support student leadership development and community building. The role is essential in shaping a student engagement strategy that prioritizes transformative learning, community building, and leadership development, ultimately contributing to a holistic and empowering student experience at Western.
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- Undergraduate degree in Education, Business Administration or related field
- Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Adult Education or other related field is preferred
**Experience**:
- 5 years’ experience in student affairs
- Experience in student programming design and delivery
- 3 years’ experience managing projects
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of adult learning theory, best practices, and key strategies for implementation
- Proven ability to build reciprocal and sustainable partnerships with internal units and external partners
- Well-developed public speaking and facilitation skills across a diverse spectrum of stakeholders (e.g., staff, faculty, students, partners, and funders)
- Ability to develop and deliver innovative programs based on best practices, and in response to emerging student and campus needs
- Strong supervisory and coaching skills to facilitate student leader development and performance evaluation
- Ability to establish effective routines for excellent communication with all members of a team to maximize productivity
- Ability to support others to maintain quality services and programming in a constantly changing environment
- Exceptional organizational skills, including managing multiple competing priorities and an ability to adapt quickly to emerging priorities
- Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels within the university
- Judgment, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a consultative and collaborative leadership approach to addressing issues and opportunities
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including sold negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite
