**About the opportunity**

**CPA Canada supports a hybrid working environment. This role can be aligned to any of CPA Canada’s offices; Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa or Burnaby.**

**What you'll do**

In this role, you will:

- Provide leadership, both as a technical expert and skilled facilitator, to bring together people and ideas, resulting in timely and high-quality research, guidance and thought leadership
- Maintain an understanding of business and emerging trends in Canada and globally which may impact current and future members working in business, government and not for profits.
- Further develop the strategy to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with relevant business and accounting resources to address the relevant impact from the world disruptors (sustainability, climate change, digital transformation, data, supply chain etc.)
- Provide an overall strategy to increase collaboration with colleagues in Education, Tax, Member Development and Support as well as other operating groups across CPA Canada
- Further develop the strategy for small-medium enterprises in Canada Provide guidance and thought leading research in areas of strategy, risk and performance management that can significantly disrupt current practices, or spur innovation, in business and or public sectors such as the drivers of change (technology, environment, global, social and political);
- Manage designated projects including facilitating meetings of the volunteer advisory groups and committees involved in the project/initiative
- Develop research, guidance and support materials (e.g., blogs, alerts, briefings, guides, summaries, webinars, thought leadership) aimed at helping stakeholders better understand and address key business issues
- Provide support to volunteer advisory groups by planning, preparing agendas and supporting materials and reviewing meeting outcomes
- Organize and participate in relevant webinars, panel discussions, and presentations
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with relevant external stakeholders to enhance the profile of CPA Canada and the Canadian accounting profession in management accounting
- Oversee translation, publication and promotion of resources, guidance, and thought leadership, working collaboratively with other departments at CPA Canada
- Oversee the ongoing development and maintenance of relevant CPA Canada webpages
- Provide financial and business planning support (input on departmental budget, variance analysis, scorecard development and achievements)
- Success in this role will be achieved with the ability to integrate strong technical knowledge with effective strategic thinking and communication skills, and to facilitate consensus and understanding among key stakeholders

**What we're looking for**
- Must hold a CPA designation, with 7-10 years of experience in a business environment (i.e., outside of public practice)
- Experience in Finance, Operations, Risk and having a good understanding of the issues facing CPA members working in business
- Intellectual curiosity and keen desire to learn
- Excellent oral and very strong written communication skills
- Strong organizational/project management skills
- Ability to identify, understand and work with others to propose solutions to complex reporting issues
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to liaise effectively with senior members of the CPA profession and other external stakeholders, including regulators, accounting firms, academics, other professional associations etc.
- Understanding and awareness of drivers that could impact business (sustainability, climate change, technology etc.)
- Commitment to quality processes and products
- Ability to work independently and to respond quickly to changing demands and new issues
