**Position Title: Settlement Intake/Front Desk Reception**

**Reporting to**: Settlement Supervisor

**Position Summary**: A positive, energetic front-line worker whose calling card is empathy; who acts as a welcoming ambassador for staff, volunteers, clothing and financial donors - and especially for newcomer and equity-deserving clients.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Responsible for establishing a professional and supportive “first contact” for clients wanting to access the full array of services at New Circles
- Conduct professionally initial intake assessment, maintaining strict confidentiality
- Performing client service registration, data input regarding registration particulars
- Book first and follow-up appointments into the schedules of the Gently Loved Outfits to Wear program
- Book appointments into the schedules of appropriate settlement staff
- Facilitate appropriate internal/external referrals to services required by clients
- Actively participate in regular team meetings
- Prepare and submit timely statistical and progress reports
- Meet all program goals as assigned
- Other related duties as required

**Qualifications and Competencies**
- Settlement Counselling Diploma or equivalent training in human services field
- Minimum two years’ work experience in the settlement and/or community work sectors
- Excellent oral and written English skills, second language is an asset (especially Spanish)
- Understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting immigrant and refugee communities
- Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills

- Interview, assessment, analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work productively in an MS Office environment
- Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy in data collection and reporting
- Knowledge of community resources and services
- Solid communication (both written and verbal) with the ability to effectively share impactful and compelling organizational-wide content with internal and external stakeholders.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with inputting data (New Circles uses SUMAC)
- High degree of professionalism and discretion with confidential information.

**Work Conditions**
- This position is generally Monday to Friday, with shifts from 0800 - 1600 or 0900 - 1700. Some evening or weekend work may be required
- Professional and energetic interactions with clients, employees, management, and the public at large
- Operation of desktop computer and peripherals
- Extended periods of sitting
- Occasional overtime
- Above market compensation
