**The Role: Food Safety Quality Assurance Associate (Food Manufacturing/Agribusiness) - North America**

**Reporting to**:Global Quality Lead

**Location**:Based in Toronto, North American travel required (50-60%+). Must be legally able to travel to USA.
Our award-winning agribusiness is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic hands-on individual to support our rapidly expanding quality program for North America. Based in Toronto, you will be a key part of our Global Quality team. Leading our North America team, you will be ensuring that our food safety, QA and QC programs are adhering to our Global Quality standards, particularly with our North America clients and co-manufacturers.

The key responsibility is to lead Food Safety, QA, QC programs under Global Quality Lead Strategic vision. To coordinate and execute strategic objectives in food safety, regulatory, internal compliance, auditing, product withdrawals, recalls, quality assurance, microbiological testing, pesticide testing in addition to meeting, exceeding federal, local, international regulatory compliance standards where applicable. This includes but not limited to company’s food safety, quality compliance, continuous improvement, processes, ongoing program improvement, product tracking, maintaining, quality control activities, sampling, accomplishing top notch quality management programs to ensure product is produced, shipment and received under safe conditions with promised quality specification.

**Leadership Responsibilities**:
The Quality Assurance Lead, North America influences our cross-functional teams and supplier partners, develop and execute Food Safety, & Quality programs related to:

- Fostering Food Safety culture in our Supply Chain including suppliers and copackers.
- Mentor and support supplier quality control and food safety leads.
- Stay abreast of new regulations which may impact our product supply chain.
- Cultivate an environment where team members respect and follow company values.

**Key Performance Responsibilities**:

- Implement best-in-class quality and food safety culture in copackers and suppliers.
- Work in conjunction with Global QA Lead look for gaps, conducting root cause analysis, continuous improvement efforts required to improve our Food Safety Quality Management system.
- Exhibit sound regulatory compliance knowledge by understanding local, client’s and new regions regulatory requirements, local climate, ecosystem impact on product supplies.
- Drive food safety and quality improvements by developing process, standards, and policies to ensure food safety and best-in-class quality across all supplier facilities and product categories.
- Lead the prevention and resolution of potential or emerging critical incidents involving food safety, or regulatory compliance failures involving finished product, and/or operational or product issues.
- Investigate, respond to, and resolve consumer complaints regarding alleged product food safety or quality issues and complaints.
- Lead and support cross-functional improvement in quality performance, aligning with manufacturing operations
- Support new manufacturing site design, risk management, HACCP, GMP, GFSI implementation.
- Support new and existing co-packing sites to review factory design, processing flow, HACCP, GMP and GFSI related activities.
- Implement strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged QA team passionate to maintain consistent product safety and quality that meets specifications.
- Responsible for FSQA monthly scorecard and set programs as per set Key Performance Indicators set up by Global FSQA lead.
- Proven track record as senior lead for food safety/quality in food manufacturing sector.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of FSVP, SFCA, and ability to communicate with CFIA and FDA.
- Ability to travel within North America (USA/Canada/Mexico), and to Europe without any restrictions.
- In depth knowledge of HACCP, GMP, GFSI, farm and factory food safety specifications, food processing, emerging foodborne pathogens, and state-of-the-art control strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in food microbiology, Food Science or related field with a graduate degree preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience of food or relevant industry experience.
- Must possess the ability and skill to objectively lead, collect data, assess the situation, and make sound risk-based decisions.
- Ability and demonstrated experience to interact cross-functionally with all levels of the organization.
- Must have the vision and leadership to build key strategic and quality operating plans that drive food safety, security, regulatory compliance as well as product conformance.
- Strong understanding and experience with manufacturing operations a must.
- Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills a must.
- Exceptional communications skills: written and verbal English.
