Family Outreach Facilitator

New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster people’s hopes and dreams in their communities.
The **Family Outreach Facilitator** is responsible for providing coordination of in-home or community-based supports for families receiving service in the Family Therapy Services (FTS) Program. This position liaises with systems and works closely with FTS clinicians to facilitate meeting the instrumental needs of families as well as offering consultation to assist clinical staff in carrying out family support plans. Assists with the facilitation of parenting groups and delivery of workshops for other professionals.
**Related Responsibilities & Duties include**:
- Travel to families’ homes or community locations throughout Winnipeg and the surrounding area for visits based on days and at times that work best for the family.
- Demonstration of awareness of cultural diversity and engagement in efforts to improve cultural proficiency to effectively serve individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstration and knowledge of Indigenous cultures and communities and integration of this knowledge into assessment, consultation and support services.
- Working collaboratively with collaterals, community resources, and professionals from different disciplines to coordinate and establish effective services for families and care-providers.
- When appropriate, advocating on behalf of parents/caregivers and their families.
- Working with families and FTS Clinicians to mutually establish goals and expectations for service.
- Providing trauma-informed, culturally sensitive and developmentally appropriate psychoeducation and supports to families (who are actively parenting children/youth under the age of 18 years)
- Facilitating psychoeducational groups for families
- Assisting with delivery of training and workshops to other professionals on attachment, systems and trauma.
- Providing timely and targeted interventions for families experiencing acute distress in a way that promotes the learning of skills and strategies to facilitate increased independence.
- Demonstrating a thorough understanding of, and commitment to ethical practice within a clinical setting.
- Maintaining all related documentation and paperwork
**Qualifications Include**:
- Master's degree in clinical field (e.g., MSW, MMFT) or an equivalent advanced degree/certification in a clinical discipline.
- Be certified to practice in their discipline within the Province of Manitoba, by being accredited by a Provincial or National licensing body associated with the clinical discipline and in good standing (e.g., AAMFT, CAMFT, MB College of Social Workers).
- Clinical experience working with families and children and the ability to deliver family (and group) psychotherapy, with a trauma-informed understanding of behaviours as adaptive coping responses and neurobiological patterns
- An awareness of cross-cultural factors that impact the healing/recovery process, including inter-generational trauma and the impact of colonization on Indigenous and settler communities.
- The ability to work effectively within in a systemic framework and familiarity with attachment theory and related interventions as well as play-based interventions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of disabilities and skills to work with families and children with disabilities.
- Experience working with clients involved with multiple systems.
- Willingness to engage in community partnerships.
- Completion of the Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) Facilitator training is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes
- Comfort in regular use of Microsoft Office products
The salary range for this full-time, 70-hour biweekly position is $26.28 to $33.90 per hour, dependent upon education and/or experience. A full benefits package, which includes Health and Dental Benefits, Long Term Disability Benefits, and Pension Plan, is provided for this permanent position.
