**Position Summary**
NCC is seeking an individual to join British Columbia’s Development and Communications team in the role of Development Officer, to engage with a portfolio of mid-level donors who support NCC’s work in British Columbia. The Development Officer will be responsible for working in collaboration with a variety of NCC business units to deliver on donor retention and donor journey strategies.
The Development and Communications team raises funds needed for conservation projects and priorities across BC and helps share NCC’s work and achievements with a range of audiences through a variety of storytelling tools.
The Development Officer will work as part of the Development and Communications team to implement a value-based and donor-centric fundraising philosophy. The position will be a key contributor to the fundraising and communication goals in BC.

**Position tasks**
The Development Officer will be accountable for the following tasks:
- In collaboration with the Development and Communications team, design and implement a stewardship program for mid-level donors that uses creative and efficient engagement strategies (including donor reports and events) to demonstrate conservation impact, build trust and nurture long-term relationships.
- Track and report on the success of stewardship initiatives.
- Improve processes for identifying and stewarding donors who may have the capacity to make larger gifts and elevate to major gift officers when appropriate.
- Bring forward and implement creative ideas to help elevate the donor experience and support the outreach efforts of our frontline fundraisers.
- Act as the BC lead to support NCC-wide Marketing and Development initiatives such as Giving Tuesday.
- Coordinate gift agreements, pledges, and reports.
- Stewardship of BC’s corporate partnerships. This includes ensuring we meet our agreement commitments (i.e. reporting, social media) and negotiating annual renewal where appropriate.
- Coordinate the thank-you program.
- Provide expertise to the Development and Communications team and the wider BC team in the use of digital platforms for (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, Daisy).
- With the help of the development assistant, ensure that all actions, appeals and solicitations are recorded in RE and that donor records are up to date.
**Qualifications**
- 3-5 years experience in fundraising, campaign planning, or donor engagement and communications, preferably using digital platforms.
- Organization, logístical and project management skill set to support donor engagement and fundraising.
- Good listening and communications skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment, tact and confidentiality in relation to donors and other audiences.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Handle issues proactively and work with team to solve problems.
- Strong commitment to self-awareness.
- Interest and openness to equity, diversity and inclusion in both internal and external facing work duties.
- Experience in use of Raiser’s Edge, Luminate and/or other Client Relationship Management (CRM) software or willingness to learn these programs.
- Comfort or openness to occasionally working outdoors or on conservation properties for donor activities and tours.
- An appreciation for or willingness to learn about nature and conservation.
