We are looking for a **Development Officer** to join our team at Make-A-Wish Canada. We are looking for a driven, energetic, and creative person who enjoys a positive work environment and is eager to grow in their role Working with the Development team and supporting the Manager, you will be responsible for generating increased MAWC revenues through development, coordination, and execution of fundraising initiatives, third party events and the identification of new fund development opportunities. You will manage and coordinate signature fundraising programs, including the planning, execution and follow up of first party events. This includes, but is not limited to; securing sponsorship, media relations, donor development and researching opportunities to develop signature events increasing chapter revenue.

This role is located in** Vancouver, BC **and is a **permanent full-time position with a hybrid work environment**: 2 days per week in the MAWC Vancouver office space (Wednesday mandatory), and 3 days per week work from home, with occasional requirements to work outside of regular office hours and attending events and meetings outside of office/home office location.
- **What You Will Do**
- Plans and executes successful first party fundraising events and supports third party events.
- Applies event management principles and processes to manage the full cycle of events at the local level ensuring high standards for all events are met.
- Evaluates, approves and supports the implementation of donor/3rd party events, developing a critical path, maintaining accurate records of fundraising activities and ensuring organizers have the tools (e.g., providing guidance, materials, volunteers, etc. to third party partners) to run a successful and compliant fundraising event.
- Develops strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (National Office, Chapter Offices, volunteers, supplies, sponsors, donors, community liaisons, media community leaders etc.).
- Actively applies for grants and following the grant calendar.
- Collaborates with the Manager, Development in identifying opportunities for development and growth in sponsorship, awareness and donations (e.g., sponsorships for; event décor, silent auction, prizes, food and drinks, entertainment, supplies, equipment, venues, etc.)..
- Collaborates with internal departments to assist with development or coordination of material for Wish Stories and other development and communication material/literature of a timely basis which may include social/marketing media.
- Establishes and provides support to event committees as required to ensure success of events (e.g., guidance, materials, staff/volunteers, timelines, etc.).
- Recruits new corporate donors and develops customized stewardship strategies.
- Acts as key ambassador and spokesperson for the Foundation, specifically when communicating with the media, donors and other stakeholders.
- In partnership with the Manager, Development, creates/implements strategies to increase revenue
