HCRA is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-profile environment to fill the role of **Paralegal.**

Reporting to the General Counsel, you will provide support to counsel and legal services on corporate, governance, and operational regulatory matters required for the administration and enforcement of the New Home Construction Licensing Act, 2017. In addition, you will assist counsel in representing HCRA on legal matters, including Provincial Offences Act prosecutions, License Appeals Tribunal (LAT), and Discipline Committee matters.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Providing administrative support with preparing LAT, court, or discipline committee materials.
- Conducting legal research into case law and research records, court files and other legal documents.
- Drafting legal documents including briefs, subpoenas, motions, etc. for counsel review.
- Developing and maintaining information management and tracking systems for legal records and files.
- Filing documents and attending court appearances for _Provincial Offences Act_ matters.
- Participating in special projects dealing with legislative and policy review, corporate by-laws and any impending legislative changes, as assigned.
- Completion of a post-secondary diploma or certificate in paralegal program.
- Licensed member of the Law Society of Ontario, in good standing.
- Three (3) to four (4) years of progressive on-the-job experience performing similar duties.
- Ability to focus on the problem/issue as stated and synthesize information and knowledge to achieve a solution.
- Knowledge and understanding of HCRA’s legislative and compliance framework, relevant legislation (e.g. _New Home Construction Licensing Act, 2017) _and precedents.
- Proven advocacy skills before Courts and Tribunals.
- Good information research aptitude to support requests and prepare documents.
- Strong drafting and editing skills to produce legal research and documents.
- High level of self-direction and initiative to pro-actively provide administrative and coordination support.
- Ability to focus on the problem/issue as stated and synthesize information and knowledge to achieve a solution.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with a variety of internal and external contacts, and to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations.
- Demonstrates initiative and proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team to achieve goals.
- High attention to detail, and high degree of accuracy, in preparing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Strong organizational, time management and coordination skills to effectively support the work of the Legal Services Team.
- Ability to manage various tasks including those requiring extensive work and coordination with senior management and board members with mínimal supervision.
- Demonstrates a strong sense of ethics and a high degree of professionalism.
