**Position Summary**

Working closely with the Social Enterprise Project Lead and reporting to the Manager of Family and Community Health, the Program Assistant supports the development of an apprenticeship/training program for youth and newcomers working in KCHC’s and Lionhearts’ food social enterprise. This position will support training and orientation needs of youth working in the social enterprise, as well as working with employment agencies to secure funding. Using a trauma informed lens, the program assistant will develop training for all involved in the social enterprise to ensure a consistent understanding of trauma responsive practice. The Program Assistant will work alongside youth and newcomers in the social enterprise both at the food markets and in the kitchen producing the product line.

**Responsibilities**

**Apprenticeship/Mentorship**
- Work closely with the local employment agencies to develop an apprenticeship program for participants in the social enterprise.
- Work alongside the Project Lead secure funding for the youth and newcomers working in the social enterprise.

**Social Media and Marketing**
- In collaboration with the Project Lead, create, disseminate and monitor roll out of communication messaging and advertising including uploading materials on websites, and ensuring appropriate and on-going social media content.
- Liaise, interact, and outreach to potential program participants.
- Develop and update marketing materials to drive customer sales and brand recognition.

**Mentoring and Program Support**
- Work alongside youth and newcomers in the development of the food markets and food product line.
- Mentor youth in all aspects of the business from customer support to marketing.

**Food Skills**
- In collaboration with the Chef, support youth in the development of a food product line to be sold at weekly food markets.

**Organizational Responsibilities**

- Commits to acquiring an understanding of the importance of trauma responsiveness and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)

- Supports KCHC’s student and volunteer placement programs
- Promotes awareness of and participation in KCHC activities

- On occasion, perform other temporary duties as required

**Basic Education and Experience Requirements**
- Minimum 1 year of post-secondary education. Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in relevant discipline preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience demonstrating skills that can be directly applied to social enterprise development.
- Strong familiarity with KCHC and its programs and current communications activities, particularly KCHC’s work as leaders in Trauma Responsive work.
- Experience updating websites and using social media as a marketing tool.
- Experience or knowledge in entrepreneurship or social enterprises

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Self-starter with evidence of high levels of organization, attention to detail, and time management.
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate well in a team-based environment.
- Excellent written and digital communication skills.
- Competence with MS Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to use other communication tools/platforms an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly and meet the physical demands of the position.
- Lived experience within equity deserving populations.
