**Position Title**
- Development Services Manager**Position Summary**
- Reporting to the Associate Vice President, External Relations, the Development Services Manager oversees, manages, and coordinates the business operations and administrative support functions of the External Relations Division while managing an administrative support team. This role will also help manage and implement an alumni relations strategic plan ensuring institutional targets are met related to the engagement of the approximately 80,000 graduates of RDP. Through strategic leadership, this role will enable the success of the overall department by supporting the development and implementation of systems processes, alumni engagement planning, stewardship management, and prospect research.**Position Responsibilities**

**External Relations Division Coordination**
- Develops and implements the annual departmental business plans that support the institutional Strategic Plan in collaboration with the External Relations management team.
- Leads the Annual reporting for the External Relations team.
- Administers the operations and administrative support functions for the AVP External Relations and the External Relations Division, ensuring the services are effective in meeting client needs and efficient to maximize resources. The incumbent is expected to assess workflows and to establish processes and procedures that will enhance the operations of the Division and the delivery of service to External Relations clients.
- Provides high level support to the Associate Vice President, External Relations which may include conducting research, coordinating documentation for meetings with clients and government, managing scheduling conflicts.

**Operational Management & Project Coordination**
- Works closely with the Associate Vice President, External Relations, and the External Relations Management team to develop and carry-out the strategic priorities of the Division.
- Develops administrative and financial reports that will provide the Division with direction and guidance for planning and decision-making purposes.
- Ensures the administration, accuracy, consistency and integrity of the entire donations component for Red Deer Polytechnic. This comprises all donors, prospects and Alumni and includes Life Insurance records and donations of cash, Gifts in Kind, real assets, such as real estate and art / cultural heritage property.
- Oversees, where appropriate, department projects and events, providing project management expertise and acting as project lead for specific projects as delegated and where appropriate. This work may include conducting research, facilitating consultation with stakeholders, and presenting project outcomes. Monitors project progress and risk management and identifies conflicts that affect project completion. Develops budgets for proposed projects and manages approved project budgets.

**Alumni Relations**
- Collaborates with the Alumni Engagement Lead to support the Alumni Association with the development, implementation, and evaluation of their Strategic Plan
- Fosters engagement and strong relationships with Red Deer Polytechnic’s 80,000+ alumni and helps create and leads the overall engagement strategy to advance these relationships.
- Ensures alumni understand fully Red Deer Polytechnics value proposition and institutional priorities.
- Works with Marketing & Communications to plan multi-channeled alumni communications that inspires engagement and support
- Grows and manages regional alumni chapters and brand champions/ambassadors
- Achieves this by planning and implementing a comprehensive, metric-driven engagement and fundraising strategy and program, including the formulation of annual and multi-year plans, goals and objectives and milestones.

**People Leadership**
- Responsible for effective recruitment, selection, retention, coaching, supervision, performance management in compliance with People and Culture policies and procedures, FOIPP, and collective agreements in support of a high performing team.
- Provides leadership by disseminating information, providing feedback, advising, and coaching for all staff under direct supervision.
- Develops and reviews the operational support structure and process to ensure the effective and efficient distribution and delegation of work.
- Plans, delegates, and coordinates operational staff to ensure administrative functions are performed in an accurate, timely and efficient manner.

**Budget Management**
- Develops departmental budgets in consultation with AVP External Relations and other members of division’s management team. Coordinates budget processes for the department to synchronize with institution processes and timelines and the implementation of approved budgets including personnel, capital, & operations.
