The Houdini Environment Artist creates high quality stylized digital assets from supplied reference material and/or concept artwork. You will be working with the set and props modeling team as well as the Asset Supervisor and Environment Supervisor to ensure that assets maintain the design style of the film, and create a world that will resonate with the audience.
**Your Role**:
- Work with the leads to realize aesthetic vision of the production
- Interpret 2D designs into 3D models
- Create procedural modeling in Houdini from supplied reference material and/or concept artwork.
- Create and use geometry assets in a production setting
- Work with the layout team for set dressing
- Create set dressing using scattering tools in Houdini (placing and randomizing grass, rocks, pebbles, trees, etc... )
- Provide creative ideas and solutions for the film on both visual and technical levels.
- Produce the highest quality work possible within a given amount of time and a defined pipeline
**Qualifications**:
- Previous experience as an Environment Artist
- Strong knowledge of Maya and Houdini
- Experience in set dressing, scattering, modelling
- Knowledge of Houdini HDAs.
- Experience creating hard-surface and organic digital models and sets.
- Excellent understanding of the feature animation pipeline from modelling through texturing, animation and rendering.
- Thorough understanding of the modelling process and the ability to both interpret designs and accurately match reference material.
- Knowledge of traditional art skills (Form, architecture, anatomy, topology, colour theory and UV mapping)
- Knowledge of VEX is a plus
- Ability to work well within a team while solving asset-specific issues independently.
- Experience with sculpting packages.
- Experience creating corrective blendshapes.
- Basic texturing skills and an understanding of rigging techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Vous travaillerez avec l’équipe de modélisation de décors et accessoires et le Superviseur des Environnements pour vous assurer que les modèles correspondent au style du film et contribuent à créer un monde qui résonnera avec le public.
Votre rôle:
- Travailler avec les Leads pour réaliser la vision esthétique de la production
- Interpréter des concepts 2D en modèles 3D
- Créer des modèles en Houdini à partir de matériaux de références et concepts fournis
- Créer et utiliser des éléments géométriques dans un environnement de production
- Appliquer et ajuster les UV, en travaillant en étroite collaboration avec les artistes de texture afin d'assurer que les UV sont positionnés et mis à l'échelle efficacement.
- Travailler avec l'équipe de « Layout » pour le «Set Dressing»
- Créer des décors à l'aide des outils de distribution dans Houdini (placer et modifier aléatoirement l'herbe, les rochers, les cailloux, les arbres etc...)
- Proposer des idées et des solutions innovantes aussi bien sur le plan technique qu’artistique.
- Produire le travail de haute qualité dans un délai donné et un pipeline défini
Compétences souhaitées:
- Expérience préalable en tant qu'artiste d'Environnements.
- Connaissances solides en Maya et Houdini.
- Expérience dans le «Set Dressing», la diffusion ( «scattering»), la modélisation.
- Connaissance des HDA de Houdini.
- Expérience antérieure dans la création de modèles et d'ensembles numériques à surface dure et organiques.
- Excellente compréhension du pipeline d'animation, de la modélisation, de la texture, de l'animation et du rendu.
- Compréhension approfondie du processus de modélisation et de la capacité à interpréter les concepts de référence
- Connaissance des techniques artistiques traditionnelles (forme, architecture, anatomie, topologie, théorie des couleurs et cartographie UV)
- Excellente aptitude à la modélisation des polygones Maya et des subdivisions de surface et aptitude à appliquer et à gérer les UV.
- Connaissance de VEX est un atout
- Capacité à bien travailler au sein d'une équipe tout en résolvant des problèmes de façon indépendante.
- Expérience avec les paquets de sculpture.
- Expérience en création de blendshapes correctifs.
- Compétences de base en texturing et compréhension des techniques de rigging.
- Excellentes compétences de communication écrite et verbale.
- Approche organisée et méthodique de votre travail.
