Electronics Assembly Technician

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To work in the Finishing area on different operations required to manufacture the shells of the hearing aid and/or earmold.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:
- To manufacture a quality product, which conforms to cosmetic, electrical, and acoustical specifications within a timely manner. To maintain certain quality and efficiency standard and contribute to continuous improvement efforts. Adhere to all safety requirements.
- Must be able work with UV material, adhesives, wax and UV curing equipment
- Must conform to and understand proper safety regulations regarding the handling of UV curable adhesives, wax, UV curing equipment, and pressurized gasses.
- Uses small hand tools and drills to grind interior of shell as required.
- Train Operators as needed.
- Takes corrective action on internal and external rejects and other quality issues.
- Repair and analyze hearing aids and/or earmolds when needed.
- Must be cross trained in many areas and aspects of hearing aid manufacturing and service functions.
- Acts as point person to Director of Operations and Quality Assurance, Quality Specialist Customer Service, Order Entry, and peers to resolve problems and expedite orders.
- Responsible for receiving and sorting orders from Bloomington and Xiamen ROC into production.
- Other duties as required.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
At least 2-3 years experience working in electronics or medical devices manufacturing environment or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE SPECIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrates a high attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy of work completed.
- Exercises good judgment in making decisions, considering all the available sources of information and alternatives. Expresses clear and rational reasons for taking a decision.
- Maintains quality standards in the output produced.
- Must understand department structure and point of contact.
- Proposes new and original ideas, approaches and solutions to problems.
- Must conform to and understand proper safety regulations regarding processes within the line.
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written, and basic computer skills (Microsoft Applications and Navision).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged sitting at a fixed workstation, with occasional walking or standing.
- Excellent hand/eye coordination.
- Ability to work under a microscope, use small hand tools such as hand drills, and soldering equipment such as tweezers, wire cutters, screwdriver, pliers, and exacto knife.
