**SUMMARY**

Reporting to the Director of Cost Accounting, the General Accounting Manager will be responsible for managerial and supervisor duties surrounding general accounting, treasury, internal controls compliance and accounts payable and receivable activities

**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Mentors and supports his/her group.
- Ensures conformance with various internal controls under his/her responsibility.
- Tests some controls under his/her responsibility and acts as a key person in order to collate controls performed by various groups in the Finance Department and checks the accuracy as well.
- Approves the reconciliation of all general ledger accounts Manages and coordinates all internal (SOX and operational) and external as well as act as a resource person regarding activities under his/her responsibility for various audits (internal, external).
- Prepares certain reconciliations and journal entries under his/her responsibility.
- Reviews reconciliations and journal entries made by persons under his/her responsibility.
- Ensures SOX compliance via the CSA and SOX reporting and assessments
- Maintain internal control documentation and ensure compliance
- Is responsible for special projects regarding general accounting activities.
- Improves and standardizes processes when necessary.
- Prepares consolidated monthly, quarterly and yearly managerial variance reports
- Ensure proper monthly foreign exchange revaluation in a multi-currency environment
- Support internal and external audits

Treasury:

- Coordinate the issuance and renewal of Letters of credit for internal stakeholders with the issuing financial institution.
- Monitor and evaluate cash flow
- Evaluate customer risk, approve and monitor customer credit limits

Accounts payable activities:

- Takes action with appropriate responsible staff in order to advance problematic files.
- Interfaces with suppliers to settle certain situations if required.
- Performs some accounts payable reconciliation analyses.
- Acts as a liaison officer between various departments regarding the accounts payable cycle and purchase order cycle. Provides instructions to facilitate problem solving.
- Checks and approves bank transfers and payments to government authorities.
- Is responsible for special projects regarding accounts payable activities.
- Improves and standardizes processes when necessary

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Bachelor degree in Finance/Accounting; accounting designation CA, CGA or CMA
- Minimum ten (10) years of experience
- Experience in supervision and mentoring.
- Experience with external and internal auditors, in accounts payable, treasury.
- Knowledge of various accounting methods in a multi-currency environment.
- Bilingual, French and English.
- Capable communicator with strong analytical skills. Good team player. Demonstrates leadership, initiative, autonomy and rigour.
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to show initiative and autonomy
- Ability to adapt and learn quickly
- Masters suite Office, Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.
- Knowledge of Essbase or BAAN and asset
