**Position**: Elder’s Coordinator

**Division/ Department**: Administration

**Salary**: $20-$22 per hour

**Type of Position **:Temporary term employment (6 months) with an opportunity for extension based on available funding.

**Hours **:Monday to Friday 08:30 AM to 04:30 PM, 37.5 hrs /week.

**General Description**:
The Elders' Coordinator works closely with the elder’s society for day-to-day activity, liaising with health team and others to promote holistic community health & wellness for our Elders and aging population. The focus is on preventative health strategies to promote the health and well-being of Elders and aging population within our community and to build relationships and connections with other community members through a diverse range of programs: cultural, recreational, elder development and education. Specific focus is also on promoting LTFN language, culture, and traditions with other community age populations. The coordinator reports to Executive Director or designate.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develops and implements a range of direct programs and services for Elders and aging population within our community that will promote health and wellness through culture, language, and traditional activities.
- Assists to build capacity for effective programs within LTFN through ongoing engagement of children, youth, and the community to identify and address risk factors that can contribute to a decrease in the health and wellness of the community's Elders and aging population.
- Assists in the preparation of funding proposals and fundraising.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of work plans/reports (annual, monthly, or as needed) for the relevant program and services as needed.
- Maintains confidential and accurate records of interactions with Elders and aging population, children, youth, and others, and provides reports and other information as requested for monitoring, evaluation, and reporting purposes.
- Assists and/or takes the lead in organizing Elders and aging population health & wellness education workshops and creating culturally
- and age-appropriate education materials.
- Assists in the delivery of health & wellness promotion and injury prevention programs when needed.
- Refers Elders and aging population and their families to appropriate resources and services and help them overcome any access barriers.
- Develops respectful and effective partnerships/relationships with LTFN departments and external stakeholders as needed to support integrated/coordinated service delivery.
- Performs other duties as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum graduation from high school (Grade-12). Post-Secondary education is preferred.
- Knowledge of the LTFN community, culture, and language is an asset.
- Experience working with Elders and aging populations.
- Must be respected within the community.
- Must have demonstrated ability to work well with others.
- Must have a demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information.
- Valid BC driver’s license.
