**Job Summary**
- The Faculty of Medicine trains and educates learners over four years of study within the Undergraduate Medical Education program toward the completion of the MD Degree. There are approximately 400 undergraduate medical students for each of the four years, which includes additional International students attending in the clinical years. Reports to the Director of Resident & Student Affairs, the Student Affairs Advisor will be responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of individual and personal development initiatives and programs for the DMNS learner population, and to collaborate with the existing Advisor and team at DMNB site to support similar functions. The goal is to build awareness, skill, and flexibility of learners to support their academic and professional progress through the four-year program beyond graduation into residency training.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide holistic advising and proactive support to individual learners with a focus on wellness, personal growth and development.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Dean Student Affairs and Director in more complex or critical personal or academic cases, including referring for intensive one-on-one coaching assistance as required.
- Responsible to create, organize, implement and evaluate events, activities and group sessions which support learner career development, health & wellness.
- In collaboration with staff from other other units (Undergraduate Medical Education Office, Registrar’s Office, etc.), participate in the planning of various events, ceremonies, and orientation week activities.
- Supervise and assign responsibility to two full time clerical support staff, and a 50% FTE managerial position.

**Note**
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

**Required Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree based in Health Promotion, Social Work, Psychology or related discipline, with five year’s experience in a related role (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Proven interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, written and verbal, is required.
- Must be adept at networking and fostering relationships at all levels within and outside the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound assessment and judgement in critical case direction.
- Experience in program management/administration and leading, developing and implementing projects or change initiatives.
- Experience supervising a team and overseeing workflows is necessary to provide support and direction to those staff members.

**Assets**
- Master’s degree.
- Prior experience in educational settings and/or with learner populations with a
demonstrated understanding of learner needs and issues, particularly relating to access, equity and inclusion.
- Knowledge of faculty and larger university and educational principles and policies around learner safety, equity, support of diversity and advising around privacy and mistreatment.
