**Job Description**:
***:Under the general supervision of the Supervisor - Contract Project Services and the technical direction and guidance of the Lead Operator, operates construction and maintenance equipment within the classification.
**MAJOR TASKS**:
- Operates construction and maintenance equipment within the classification.
- Operates other equipment when required.
- Performs labour duties when the operation of equipment is not required.
- Checks and carries out minor servicing of equipment being operated.
- Reports equipment and material defects as required.
- Reports materials used to the stores as required.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:
- Must possess a secondary school graduation diploma
**Skills/Abilities**:
- Must be proficient in operating trucks with G.V.W. rating of 11,000 kg. and up, and with trailers weighing in excess of 4,600 kg
- Must possess a working knowledge of loaders and small equipment
- Must be able to understand sewer and water distribution maps and construction drawings
- Must be capable of issuing and accurately comprehending written/oral information and instructions
- Must be tactful and courteous with the public
- Must be reliable and capable of performing routine work with a minimum of supervision
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class “A” Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent with a ‘Z’ endorsement
- Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:
- Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
- May be required to provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified)
- Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
- Must work weekends and shifts as required
