**ABOUT THE DIGITAL LAB**

The **Digital Lab** is an integrated unit of BC Children’s Hospital and the University of British Columbia’s Department of Pediatrics. Our mission is to improve the lives of pediatric patients and their families through digital innovation and technology. Since launching in 2016, the unit has evolved into a diverse interdisciplinary team of 40+ staff and students with a shared passion for exploring the potential that exists at the crossroads of technology and healthcare. We develop bespoke software, mobile apps, websites, media, games, and advanced simulations, as well as lead innovative clinical engineering programs within the hospital that leverage emerging technologies such as 3D printing and virtual reality. Underpinning our efforts is a robust research program that focuses on new technology development, patient-centered design, economic evaluation, and outcomes research associated with the products and services we provide. Our research is published in leading journals related to our fields.

**JOB SUMMARY**:
We are looking for a new leader to join the Digital Lab as **Product Lead**, focused on developing and leading our product team and designing world-class digital health products. Working closely with other cross-functional leaders, the Product Lead will provide internal ownership for a growing portfolio of digital products, acting as an internal conduit for our end users, including patients, families, clinical providers, and other stakeholders.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**

This position will work broadly across the product life cycle, from ideation and conceptualization to implementation and evaluation. Responsiblities and scope of work will encompass product strategy and design (30%), product development, delivery, and quality assurance (40%), and post-launch product management, evaluation, and iterative improvement (30%).

Day-to-day activities will include:

- Serving as an internal thought-leader in digital product design and development.
- Acting as the internal owner for all product management processes, such as strategy, research, design, requirements, planning, quality assurance, etc.
- Developing product documentation, including Concept Briefs, Visual Product Outlines, Project Blueprints (Requirements), roadmaps, maintenance plans, etc.
- Working with cross-functional leads (project, technical, design, etc.) to remove blockers and ensure high-quality product development that meets user needs.
- Understanding and representing end-user needs throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring production aligns with requirements and priorities.
- Creating and maintaining product roadmaps and backlogs, assisting technical teams with breaking down requirements, estimating user stories, etc.
- Conducting extensive reviews and QA with each sprint cycle and project milestone.
- Leading the advancement of the _product_ function and practice within the Digital Lab
- Evaluating post-launch product requests, including estimation and prioritization.
- Serving as the conduit between internal teams and local partners, clients and users.
- In partnership our Research and Evaluation Team, conduct and interpret findings of user research initiatives and post-launch evaluation projects.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related field (e.g. Business, Technology, etc.)
- Working knowledge of agile scrum methodology or technical project management.
- Two years' recent experience in digital product management or related role.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to balance competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of an integrated team.
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams through excellent communication skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize and work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to develop ideas/processes and clearly express them.
- Experience with UI/UX design process and software development an asset.

**Salary**: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
