**Job Number***:

Partners have long played a role in the development, delivery and animation of recreation spaces and amenities in Edmonton. The City of Edmonton recognizes that it cannot effectively meet City objectives alone, and partnerships are critical to achieve priorities and build an active and healthy city.

Working within the Partnership and Event Strategy Section as part of the Community Recreation and Culture Branch, the role of the Sport Partner Liaison is to attract, develop and steward partnership opportunities in the area of sport and recreation. The Sport Partner Liaison brokers and manages partner agreements and provides ongoing strategic support for complex partner initiatives that may include lease/contract agreements, management agreements, contracted operation of spaces, operation of entire facilities, or delivery of programs and services. They seek and develop strategic partner opportunities that lead to enhanced delivery of sport and recreation opportunities for Edmontonians.

The Partnership and Event Strategy Section is the lead for implementation of the Live Active strategy, which is the key strategic document and leading practice for the delivery of active living, active recreation, and sport opportunities in Edmonton. The Section, in partnership with Explore Edmonton, is also responsible for implementing the long term Major Event Strategy. The Sport Partner Liaison will be required to support these initiatives through innovation and collaboration with sport partners and internal staff where appropriate.

- Support City-led Recreation Facility and Open Space projects involving sport and active recreation partners as required, including support with needs assessment tools, public engagement plans and operational plans

Agreements:

- Develop, negotiate, monitor, administer and evaluate a variety of complex agreements such as memorandum of understanding, lease, license, funding, management, operating, and professional service agreements with city-wide sport and active recreation organizations and partner facility operators
- Ensure that agreements entered into by the City consider the operational viability and sustainability of the partner facility and that programs or services are in the interest of both the partner and the City
