The Kamloops Heritage Railway Park and Museum is searching for someone special to join our team to help us make the transition from operating railway to heritage park and museum.

As Administrative Assistant, you will have a significant role to plan in bringing our vision to life. While the role is expected to evolve over time, the general duties associated with the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Organizing and maintaining office filing systems for the Society
- Arranging and attending meetings as required
- Writing reports, policy and other documents as directed
- Preparing and submitting purchase orders and expense reports for payment
- Overseeing the gift shop and staff throughout our open season
- Preparing bank daily sales reports and bank deposits
- Ordering gift shop and concession supplies
- Helping other staff and volunteers with internal and external research projects
- Coordinating the preparation and publication of our Newsletter

This is a one year term full time position, with the possibility of being extended. Hours of work will be Tuesday to Saturday, from 9:00 am until 4:30 pm inclusive of a 30 minute unpaid lunch break.

Qualifications and experience:

- Minimum high school completion
- Minimum 2 years of related experience preferred
- Proven experience as an Administrative Assistant or similar position
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work with little supervision and the willingness to take initiative
- Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers and fax machines
- Proficiency in Google Apps (Docs, Sheets, Gmail and/or MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint)
