The Indigenous Partnerships and Engagement Strategist will develop and support engagement strategies and activities related to TOH’s efforts toward cultural safety in the delivery of health services to First Nations, Inuit and Métis patients, their families and staff.

Reporting to the Director, New Campus Development Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, the Indigenous Partnerships and Engagement Strategist will support the work of the Indigenous Peoples Advisory Circle and grow meaningful partnerships with First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples, communities and organizations.

The Strategist will coordinate activities related to the implementation of the Indigenous Engagement Framework, which is aligned with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, Joyce’s Principle, the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and the Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

**Rotation/Shifts**:

- Days, 8 hour shifts.**What you will bring**:
- Four (4) year Undergraduate degree in Communications or Marketing or Public Relations or Business Administration or a related discipline;
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in relationship building, and partnership development with First Nations, Inuit and/or Métis governments and/or organizations at the community, regional, and national level, preferably in a health or social context;
- Lived experience in Indigenous cultures and ways of life;
- Experience with strategic communications and engagement planning and implementation;
- Experience with project management, methodologies, and implementation;
- Substantive knowledge of Indigenous peoples' history, culture, rights, treaty rights and political structures;
- Knowledge and understanding of First Nations, Inuit and Métis health and wellness context; socio-economic determinants of health and wellness; traditional protocols; First Nations, Inuit and/or Métis community organizations and services; and, policies, directions, research literature and trends relating to First Nations, Inuit and Métis health, wellness, cultural safety, and truth and reconciliation;
- Knowledge and understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and other related principles, protocols, and policies;
- Knowledge and/or experience in supporting cultural safety/competence;
- Knowledge of the styles of engagement preferred by Indigenous communities, governments, and organizations.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
- Ability to develop and maintain, collaborative working relationships, partnerships, and networks;
- Ability to identify and assess emerging issues, trends, and policies to assess their implications for planning and program delivery.**What you can expect from us**:
