**What is the opportunity?**:
RBC Capital Markets Global Investment Banking is seeking an innovative and versatile Vice President Underwriting to join its Real Estate Group (“REG”) based in downtown Toronto. The Vice President will co-lead real property due diligence and underwriting activities for REG’s industry-leading property brokerage team across a variety of commercial real estate transactions.

RBC Capital Markets Real Estate Group is the largest dedicated real estate corporate finance group in Canada, with offices in Toronto, Montréal, Calgary, New York and London. REG’s capabilities span Property and Debt Brokerage, Equity and Debt Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions and Advisory & Valuation for public, private, corporate and government owners of real estate. The property brokerage team is a market‐leading advisor for institutional‐quality real estate in Canada, offering comprehensive transaction and advisory expertise for retail, office, industrial, multi‐ residential, seniors housing, hotel and urban development properties and portfolios.

**What will you do?**:

- Lead real property due diligence and underwriting on multiple property types
- Train, mentor and supervise junior team members in property underwriting and financial analysis
- Financial analysis, valuations and due diligence for real estate properties and portfolios
- Review and summarize property leases and other legal documents, financing documents, appraisals, building condition assessments and environmental reports
- Structure, compile, and draft presentation and communication materials, including investment offering summaries, confidential information memoranda, pitch & advisory presentations, responses to RFPs, and other ad-hoc market and industry research reports
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders in performing above

**What do you need to succeed?**:
**Must-have**
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in property underwriting and due diligence, preferably across multiple property types
- Strong quantitative, analytical and financial modeling skills and experience with Excel and Argus Enterprise
- Knowledge of key real estate market metrics and drivers for various property types in major Canadian cities
- Creative problem solving skills
- Adept written communication and data visualization skills
- Team orientation and exceptional organization and time management skills
- Ability to work well under pressure with multiple deadlines while maintaining scrupulous attention to detail
- Ability to work as a member of a professional team in a fast-paced corporate environment
- Flexibility in time schedule to meet clients’ deadlines
- University degree (finance/accounting oriented)
- Demonstrated superior track record in academic/professional endeavours
- Strong computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
