**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to Divisional Manager of Operations, Energy & Sustainability, the Energy & Sustainability Officer will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of energy saving strategies, programs and initiatives, verifying and tracking usage of utilities, managing and monitoring building automation controls, and managing water and waste reduction programs.

Qualifications:

- Secondary school graduation diploma, supported with a minimum two-year community college diploma in a relevant discipline
- Minimum one (3) year related experience in an environmental or technological field. Experience in a school setting of similar government agency is an asset
- Certified Energy Manager certification is an asset
- Knowledge of industry practices and government regulations for energy conservation and management
- Knowledge in the areas of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air condition, carpentry and general maintenance, as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act is required
- Excellent organizational, planning, communication and project management skills
- Excellent leadership skills that will facilitate interaction with all levels in the organization
- Knowledge of Ministry of Education and Environment legislation, codes and regulations
- A valid Class G Ontario driver’s license
- Demonstrated competency in the use of Microsoft Office software
- Demonstrated tact, diplomacy and ability to deescalate difficult situations
- Effectively communicate Information to supervisors, principals, maintenance and custodial staff, and contractors, suppliers and government inspectors

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage building systems and utilities including developing and implementing energy saving strategies and targets
- Manage, troubleshoot and monitor building automation controls and schedules through a centralized building automation system.
- Monitor, track and verify utility purchase and performance of Board facilities. Maintain utility databases and prepare energy reports for the Board or Ministry
- Conduct energy audits of board facilities. Recommend field improvement measures to equipment and components to minimize energy consumption and enhance the learning environment
- Research and implement various energy management and conservation projects with consultants, suppliers, and contractors.
- Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of legislation, codes and regulations (provincial and municipal) and research literature as it pertains to waste management, environmental and energy programs
- Assist with the Board’s recycling programs, waste audits and waste reductions plans in compliance with Ministry regulations
- Assist the Divisional Manager of Operations, Energy & Sustainability to ensure compliance and management of drinking water systems
- Other related duties as assigned

8 hours per day/40 hours per week

**Rate of Pay**

$67,539 to $76,749 (pending review)
