**The Role**:
As a **Provincial Community Engagement Lead** at CLBC, you are responsible for the strategic implementation of CLBC community engagement plans including enabling CLBC staff to advance the leadership of CLBC Community Councils, the Provincial Advisory Committee and CLBC Editorial Board.

Responsibilities include:

- Identify, liaise with, and maintain strong relationships with key self advocacy and family groups across BC.
- Advise on and support grants that invest in and build self advocacy leadership skills and capacity.
- Collaborate with sector partners on projects that build self advocacy and family leadership.
- Equips CLBC staff and regional offices with knowledge, skills, and resources to engage individuals, families and the broader community in Council work and other local outreach that builds partnerships and desire for inclusion.
- Facilitates Council work plan development and implements events that support the Council terms of reference.
- Advises and supports Councils with community development and partnership building activities that builds awareness and desire for inclusion outside the sector.
- Develops and leads provincial recruitment activities for on
- going renewal of the CLBC Editorial board and 13 Community Councils across BC.
- Design and lead engagement plans that include and learn from the voice of people served in CLBC Strategic Plan projects/initiatives.
- Develop accessible communication strategies and tools to share information with the people served by CLBC including translating materials into plain language, video, and audio formats.
- Build skills and knowledge of CLBC staff to utilize and offer a variety of communication methods to support accessibility at CLBC.
- Mentor, coach and make recommendations to CLBC staff and management teams on engagement strategies that build strong relationships with individuals/families served and the communities they live in.

**Qualifications**:

- A baccalaureate degree in a related human service field from a recognized post-secondary institution. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will also be considered.
- At least 5 years' experience working alongside the self advocacy and community living sector in an advisory capacity is desired. This includes a proven track record of successfully supporting self advocates to prepare for and participate in a variety of leadership building activities such as forums, meetings, committees/councils, boards, workshops etc.
- At least 5 years' experience successfully developing and leading engagement and community building strategies and activities with diverse communities.
- Certification or/and work experience creating a detailed understanding of plain language communication skills is an asset.

**Travel**: Frequent overnight travel throughout the province including occasional evenings and weekends. Use of own vehicle on expenses. Possession of a Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract is required.

**Location**:This position can work from any CLBC office. Utilizing a hybrid working model, this position combines on-site in office work with work from home flexibility.
