Description:
The Lead, Outpatient Pharmacy performs a leadership role in the Provincial Operations portfolio of Pharmacy Services and reports directly to the Director of Drug Procurement and Stewardship. This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, team leadership and organization over the activities of the Outpatient Pharmacy Contracts team within Pharmacy Services in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. This position works independently on the management of outpatient pharmacy contracts once established and has the authority to make independent decisions that are within the scope of the contracts. The Lead will support the Director in maintaining and monitoring systems to ensure efficiency, financial responsibility, and contractual adherence between AHS and the outsourced outpatient pharmacies in Calgary and Edmonton. This position develops and maintains strong working relationships with key partners both internal and external to Pharmacy Services include site operations, specialized programs (e.g. transplant, HIV), and outsourced outpatient pharmacies.

**Required Qualifications**:
Registered, or eligible for registration, with the Alberta College of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician A minimum of 5 years' experience in hospital pharmacy practice, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity plus previous supervisory and/or leadership experience. Previous contract management experience. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization and ideally managing within a unionized sector. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Effective leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment and the ability to motivate and inspire other to achieve common goals. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and build solid relationships with public agencies, government, committees and other partners.
