**Position Summary**

**This role is remote BC and then Hybrid Victoria.**
- Thales is hiring a _**_Coastal Planning Team Lead & Class Planner_**_ to manage and develop the team of Coastal Planners/Schedulers building and managing maintenance schedules for the ships homeported on their respective coast. As Planning Team Lead they manage the AOPV and JSS Class Maintenance schedule in accordance with the Maintenance Program which is managed by ILS/Supportability. Effectively the Coastal Planning Team Lead based in Halifax is the AOPV Class Planner and the Coastal Planning Team Lead for MARPAC is the JSS Class Planner. This will include developing 5 and 10 year maintenance projections and plans which identify the maintenance planned for each work period in the next Fiscal Year. The Coastal Planning Team Lead also manages and coordinate the coastal planning/scheduling team in the preparation, monitoring and maintaining the in-year work period work lists and schedules, providing accurate and timely reports as required._

**Key Areas of Responsibility**
- Reporting to the West Coast Operations Manager, the Coastal Planning Team Lead & Class Planner is responsible for the identification and coordination of ship class specific work lists for the entire Thales ISS Enterprise. The Coastal Planning Team Lead & Class Planner also coordinates, prepares, monitors and maintains the Esquimalt Waterfront Maintenance packages and schedules. The preparation and maintenance of these packages and schedules is in conjunction with the various stakeholders (i.e. Ship Managers, Maintenance Coordinators, Team Leaders, DND Fleet Maintenance Facilities (FMF), and Sub-Contractors) as required. The work packages identify and validate that all required maintenance routines are included for execution during designated work periods. The schedules identify the program critical paths in conjunction with sub-Contractor or Technical Support Network (TSN) schedules and end customer operational timelines to manage the work periods. _

The Coastal Planning Team Lead & Class Planner is responsible to:

- Liaise with key stakeholders to develop valid and accurate bid and project maintenance packages.

- Liaise with key stakeholders to maintain valid and accurate project schedules in accordance with a weekly update cycle.
- Highlight areas of schedule and cost concern and identify potential actions for improving performance.
- Advise the Ship Managers of scheduling/production issues that might impact on key schedule dates.
- Ensure data transfer, data coordination between various program management software systems to ensure capture of accurate performance data.
- Reconcile performance data generated from the systems with real project performance through communication with members of the project team.
- Prepare regular reports and charts on project schedule progress and project performance in Hours / Cost as required by the Ship Managers and other stakeholders and as required.
- Carry out analysis of project schedule and cost performance.
- Assist the Ship Managers through resource levelling and other appropriate scheduling techniques to identify suitable project execution strategies to reduce execution costs and improve schedule performance.
- Assist with planning functions including project structure with relevant documentation.
- Maintain and update cost status of work packages;
- Other tasking’s as required.

**Minimum Requirements**

Skills and Abilities:

- College Graduate with trade experience.
- Competent use of Scheduling Tools (Primavera P6 preferred).
- Experience with Maintenance Management Systems (IBM Maximo preferred).
- Project planning knowledge desirable.
- Demonstrated analytical skills.
- Prior experience in ship building, repair, or maintenance industry is desirable.
- A high level of computing skills particularly with MS Office.
- Excellent communications skills including the ability to prepare and present reports to a range of audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to promote cooperation at all levels.
