**University Health Network (UHN)** is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of **Patient Safety & Quality Improvement Specialist** in our Quality, Safety and Clinical Adoption Department.

**Job Summary**:
As member of the UHN Quality, Safety & Clinical Adoption team, the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Specialist is an ambassador for patient safety and quality improvement. Job accountabilities may include:

- Advance patient safety and quality throughout UHN using quality improvement methodology, patient safety frameworks, knowledge of clinical best practices, Accreditation Required Organizational Practices (ROP), legislative requirements, policies, and High Reliability science
- Accelerate patient safety through representation on various corporate and program committees
- Manage patient safety events through investigation, engaging interprofessional teams, facilitating case reviews, and providing continuous organizational learning using the UHN Cause Analysis Framework
- Assist in the selection and analysis of quality-related performance indicators to monitor organizational, program, and/or unit level performance to ensure alignment with strategic direction. Some of these indicators will be incorporated into UHN’s Safety Scorecard and UHN’s annual Quality Improvement Plan
- Manage projects and initiatives designed to promote patient safety and quality improvement on a corporate-wide, program-wide and local, patient care unit scale across all project phases, including evaluation
- Provide leadership, guidance, and planning for quality and patient safety initiatives through advocating for clinical standardization through quality improvement initiatives and document preparation

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of a bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree is preferred
- Being a member of a regulated healthcare professional is strongly preferred
- Minimum of six (6) to eight (8) years practical and related experience in the healthcare field
- Previous experience in quality and performance improvement methods is required
- Experience leading Patient Safety & Quality Improvement initiatives within healthcare is required to allow the individual to immediately facilitate events based on their process improvement knowledge and experience
- Experience working with physicians and other clinicians is required
- Project management experience preferred
- Project planning
- Implementation
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating a major change initiative in a healthcare environment
- Demonstrated change management skills (consulting, negotiating, influencing)
- Knowledge of hospital organizational st
