**Position Overview**:The **Junior Cost Analyst** will support the company by analyzing and managing costs related to production and operations. Working primarily within the manufacturing industry and using ERP systems like SAP, the role involves gathering financial data, analyzing Bills of Materials (BOM), and assisting with cost allocation. The analyst will collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate costing, contribute to pricing strategies, and identify areas for cost-saving. This position is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills and attention to detail, looking to grow their expertise in cost accounting.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Data Collection & Reporting**: Collect, organize, and interpret financial data, including cost reports, forecasts, and production data from various sources. Prepare comprehensive reports to highlight key cost metrics and trends for senior management.
- **Cost Analysis & Variance Reporting**: Conduct detailed cost analysis for products, projects, and departments. Identify cost variances and provide insights on potential cost-saving opportunities or inefficiencies.
- **Bill of Materials (BOM) Analysis**: Analyze Bills of Materials (BOM) throughout different manufacturing stages to ensure accurate costing and to identify opportunities for cost reduction. Track and monitor any BOM changes and their financial impacts.
- **Cost Allocation & Shared Cost Distribution**: Support the allocation of shared costs (e.g., overheads, indirect labor) across products or departments, ensuring accurate and fair cost distribution in alignment with corporate accounting standards.
- **Cost Modeling & Pricing Support**: Assist in developing cost models to inform pricing strategies, profitability analysis, and new product cost estimation. Provide data-driven insights to optimize pricing decisions.
- **ERP System Utilization**: Work within the ERP system (preferably SAP) to manage and track all cost-related data. Ensure data integrity in financial transactions and reporting, troubleshooting ERP-related issues as necessary.
- **Cross-functional Collaboration**: Work closely with finance, procurement, operations, and other departments to gather critical information, support budgeting and forecasting activities, and drive cross-functional initiatives that improve cost efficiency.
- **Audit & Compliance**: Assist in internal audits by providing accurate cost data and reports. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal costing standards.
**Qualifications**:
- **Education**: Bachelor's degree in **Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field**.
- **Experience**: 1-3 years of experience in cost analysis or financial reporting within a **manufacturing environment**, with hands-on experience in an **ERP system**, ideally **SAP**.
- **Technical Knowledge**: Strong understanding of **cost accounting principles**, including the allocation of shared costs, and experience in analyzing and interpreting Bills of Materials (BOM).
- **ERP Proficiency**: Experience working with ERP systems, particularly in a costing or financial module, with a preference for SAP experience.
- **Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills**: Strong analytical capabilities to identify cost trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Ability to think critically and solve complex costing issues.
- **Attention to Detail**: Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring data accuracy and consistency in financial reporting and cost analysis.
- **Communication Skills**: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data clearly and effectively to stakeholders across departments.
- **Collaboration & Teamwork**: Ability to work collaboratively with different departments, including finance, procurement, and production teams, to gather information and ensure accurate costing processes.
**Preferred Skills**:
- **Advanced Excel Skills**: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling, for data analysis and reporting.
- **Financial Reporting Tools**: Familiarity with financial reporting tools or software for cost analysis and data visualization.
- **Project Management**: Basic project management skills to support the implementation of cost-saving initiatives and cross-functional projects.
- **Process Improvement Mindset**: A proactive approach to identifying process improvements in costing, data management, and cross-functional workflows.
- **Industry Knowledge**: Familiarity with the manufacturing sector and an understanding of production cycles, BOMs, and production-related cost drivers.
