Facilities Projects Cost Analyst (Contract Role), Calgary

If you are an experienced Cost Controller and are seeking a new role in a dynamic team, then we want to hear from you The MEG Energy Facilities Projects team is expanding with an opportunity for an energetic self-starter who is looking to take on a critical role in directly supporting the business through the preparation, maintenance and continuous improvement of our data collection, quality and reporting. Your day-to-day will include:

- Provide and demonstrate safety leadership in accordance with MEG programs, inspiring and motivating others to ensure safety in all activities and taking care of themselves and others.
- Champion the LEM data collection activities associated with large and small projects; core duties will include:

- Work with Supply Chain to understand contract terms and conditions to be applied to LEMS from contractors.
- Collection and processing of LEM data into our in-house developed software.
- Attest, review, and ensure completeness and accuracy of LEMS.
- Work directly with contractors and service providers to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Issuing payment certificates to authorize contractors and service providers to invoice for work performed.
- Work with construction management to review Equipment on site is being used and remove unused or standby equipment to save costs.
- Load attendance records into our system and validate LEMs against attendance.
- Create cost monitoring reports by contractor and service order.
- This role will also assist with our progress and performance data collection and reporting.
- This role will also assist with our change management data collection and reporting.
- This role will also assist with program monthly reporting, KPIs, and dashboards
- Supporting project controls with reporting, analysis, and other support as required.
- Perform other related functions as may be required by the Project Controls Lead such as additional scope analysis, ad hoc reporting, and assisting other areas in project controls function.
- You will build and maintain respectful and collaborative professional relations with other groups such as Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Accounts Payable, Sub-Contractors, or other internal MEG groups and stakeholders.
- You will be part of the MEG team committed to performing all our activities in an ethical manner, consistent with MEG’s corporate policies.

What you will bring to MEG:

- Directly related experience in project controls, Cost Control, project accounting, AP or Construction tracking.
- A successful track record of accurately recording, analyzing, interpreting, cost data for large and small projects.
- Post-secondary education with a technical diploma or bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is an asset.
- Project management certification or formal training in cost control is an asset.
- Excellent written and oral communication as well as strong presentation skills and the ability to efficiently manage multidiscipline meetings is required.
- Excellent computer skills working with MS office and expert level in Excel is required.
- Working knowledge of industry standard cost control software specifically Prism Project Manager, LEM systems, and progress tracking systems is a strong asset.
- Strong analytical abilities including gathering and interpreting information from multiple sources, organizational and problem-solving skills are required.
- You take initiative are a self-starter, pro-active and flexible work style and the ability to work with mínimal supervision is required.
- This position may require travelling to site periodically or to EP offices.
