**Position Description**

**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):

- Under general supervision & direction of the PI, develop and implement original experiments within the guidelines of the research
- Conduct molecular genetics, experiments and analyses
- Independently on day to day duties like organizing Drosophila genetic strains and genetic crosses
- Conduct literature review, surveys, laboratory experiments and other research for us in scholarly publications when required to
- Record findings to collaborate on publications within the field of the research in both a national and international level
- Reliable and safe operation of all laboratory equipment
- Keep laboratory and work area clean and safe

**Qualifications / Requirements**:

- Bachelors Degree
- Extensive experience (at least two years) performing molecular genetic experiments using Drosophila
- Experience and knowledge of Drosophila biology and the published literature in this area
- Perform detailed design, documentation, and implementation of moderately complex technological systems
- Interact with other members of the team and undertake literature reviews
- Provide technical support for other team members through advice on technical lab issues
- Demonstrated strong communication, team and customer service skills, and an ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet skills
- WHMIS
