**Position Details**
We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Research Assistant to support researchers at The Immigrant Education Society (TIES) and our partner institutions. This role involves active participation in research and data gathering. This is an arts-based participatory project that primarily focuses on addressing gender-based violence among newcomer youth who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+.
**Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to)**:
- Working closely with researchers to assist in research planning, data collection and analysis.
- Collect data using survey(s) and/or interviews.
- Assist with compiling data and transcribing interviews.
- Conduct online literature reviews/scans and create reading lists for other researchers.
- Assist with manuscript writing for peer-reviewed journals.
- Assist with keeping project files and documentation organized.
- Assist project leads by completing and submitting required project deliverables in a timely manner.
- Help to maintain collaborative relationships with our external partners through sharing of information, documentation, and regular communication.
- **Education & Experience**_
- Completed an undergraduate degree preferably in health sciences, social sciences or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Master’s degree is an asset.
- Previous experience working with youth (ages 14-24 years) would be an asset.
- Familiarity with, or knowledge of, the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Calgary is highly desired.
- Previous experience working with newcomer populations would be an asset.
- Experience with creating and administering online surveys would be an asset.
- Knowledge of or experience with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies is preferred.
- Experience in a non-profit immigrant-serving organization in Canada would be an asset.
- Sensitivity and ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of data privacy and data storing.
