Position Overview
The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership is hiring a Program Coordinator on a contract basis to create, implement, and oversee a newly anticipated workforce initiative, “Sarnia-Lambton Newcomer Community Connection Program. (Note: This position is pending funding approval)

The Program is designed to attract and retain newcomer talent to enhance the economic region by supporting employers to recruit diverse talent for local employment opportunities and to actively promote Sarnia-Lambton employment to newcomers across Ontario.

The main objectives of the program will be to increase the overall community’s readiness of welcoming newcomers, increase local employer’s capacity to hire and recruit newcomers, promote the region’s employment opportunities with newcomers across Ontario, and support newcomers through creation of employment connections and resources.

An important part of this role is to establish a coordinated community-based newcomer support system to enhance employer engagement, strengthen workforce development partnerships, and support a more efficient path to employment opportunities.

This position will be required to lead the development of a new community project while meeting performance metrics and specified goals.

This is position is a full-time contract role until approximately March 30, 2024.

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage and lead a large-scale community project to engage various stakeholders to achieve performance metrics
- Complete ongoing regulatory activity/expense reports within specified deadlines
- Possess effective time management skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrate a knowledge of attracting and supporting newcomer talent and to provide employers with relevant information, resources, and connections
- Proactively conduct employer outreach to coordinate events and training sessions
- Organize and coordinate large-scale community tours, workshops, and events
- Coordinate and create digital/print marketing solutions to promote the program to newcomer job seekers and local employers in Lambton County
- Work collaboratively with community stakeholders connected to newcomer attraction efforts such as Lambton College, employment service providers, business associations, industry associations, workforce training and development agencies, and provincial newcomer agencies

**Qualifications**:
Minimum Formal Education
- A Degree/Diploma in Human Resource/Program Management/Business or a combination of education and experience in a relevant discipline working with rural and urban businesses.

**Qualifications**:

- 3 - 5 years of experience in a related position
- Demonstrated ability to implement and lead complex programs while meeting deadlines, budget requirements, reporting, and performance metrics.
- Foundational understanding and experience with supporting diverse job seekers
- Ability to influence business leaders, stakeholders, and community partners
- Effective facilitation, marketing and presentation skills for diverse groups
- Knowledge and experience in working with government-funded programs
- Event coordination and management considered an asset
- Valid drivers’ licence and access to a vehicle required. Evening and weekend work may be required to attend community events.
