Location: Sarnia
Position Type: Casual
Hours of Work: 3-8 hours/week and/or 10-16 hours/month
Operation Hours: Wednesday 4:30pm-8pm, Friday 4:30pm-8pm, Saturday 9:00am -2:30pm, Sunday 1:00pm - 6pm.

The Family Counselling Centre is an established community-based agency providing counselling services to Sarnia and Lambton area since 1955. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic team player to work as a **Supervised Access Program Lambton Worker** in a casual position.

Our SAPL workers provide a safe, neutral and child-focused setting where non-residential family members can have access with their children. Ensuring that visits and exchanges are safe for all family members by upholding the terms of the Service Agreement and by keeping accurate documentation of the visits and exchanges.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Compliant with the Service Agreement between SAPL and the participants to ensure the safety of program operations and service consistency for each attending client.
- Monitors and accurately records factual interactions and conversations between the children and their family member(s) during the visits and exchanges.
- Ensure that appropriate interactions and conversations between family members and children take place, and that worker interaction is used only when necessary.
- Maintains the dignity and confidentiality of each client.
- Ensure the participants and children enter and leave the premises according to the Service Agreement to safe-guard their safety.
- Receives and responds to telephone messages relating to cancellation of visits and exchanges and keeps accurate documentation.
- Notifies Program Coordinator of any security or safety concerns and completes Critical Incident Reports and/or other appropriate forms as necessary.
- Collects fees and issue receipts.
- May be required to supervise volunteers and/or students.
- Participates in team meetings and/or professional development opportunities as required. This will be done within the financial restraint of the Program and in consultation with the Program Coordinator.
- Ensures the visit site is kept clean and toys are maintained as per the Cleaning Schedule.
- Completes any additional duties, not outlined above, as deemed necessary by the SAPL Program Coordinator and/or Executive Director.

**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications**:

- 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role or comparative working with children and families.
- Strong team player and Independent worker
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Exerts a professional and respectful etiquette at all times.
- Excellent attention to detail; to document and monitors interactions of clients
- Proficient with computer systems and familiar with MS Word, Excel, Adobe

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- A post-secondary diploma in Social Sciences and/or Social Services (CYW or SSW) preferred.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience with children and families.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification is required.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as per Operational Hours (Wednesday 5pm-8pm, Friday 5pm-8pm, Saturday 9:30am -2:30pm, Sunday 1:30pm - 7pm)
- A current satisfactory criminal reference check, including a vulnerable sector check is required (not older than 6 months).
- A current Vaccine Certificate
