Line Cook/prep Cook

**We are looking for an experienced, passionate Line/Prep cook to join our team**
Walter's and Neptune's Restaurant specializes in Greek and Canadian cuisine, we are located in a prime area along the canal in Port Colborne.
**Responsibilities**:
- Work with the kitchen team to prepare, cook and plate all dishes
- Read food order slips, prepare and cook food accordingly
- Attention to detail with food preparation, portion control and presentation of dishes
- Work with a flat grill, fryers and various cooking and food prep equipment
- Mise en place complete : Setup stations on the line for service by completing prep list and equipping stations for service. Could include: following recipes to create components of dishes, cleaning, peeling, slicing, trimming of food products, general restock and ensuring all tools needed are ready for service.
- Work on several different orders, simultaneously; while maintaining food quality
- Close down line and kitchen. Includes : clean food preparation areas, follow closing procedures, clean cooking surfaces, utensils, wash dishes, sweep, mop. Duties as assigned.
- Work in a manner where the cooking space is kept clean and tidy
- Willingness to learn and be a team player
- Positive attitude
- Thorough knowledge of food safety procedures
- Safe food handling certificate, current
- Ability to stand for long periods of time during shift
- Ability to lift, carry or handle heavy objects
- Ability to work with little supervision with a high standard for quality, attention to detail and cleanliness
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, ability to multi-task and work under pressure
- Speak, read and write English and basic math
- Knife handling skills
- Be a team player with excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Passion for the food industry, with previous experience preferred
