**Position Overview**:
Responsibilities include:

- In collaboration with the Chief Nutrition and Food Services Officer, identifies operational issues, plans objectives and implements change.
- Maintenance and implementation of HACCP procedures.
- Ensures the efficient and effective use of equipment and educational resources in all areas of responsibility.
- Evaluates and implements the use of new products, ideas and procedures to optimize food quality and cost control.
- Administers the human resources function including interviewing, hiring and orientation of staff
- Directs, monitors and evaluates the financial objectives and fiscal management processes.
- Develops long and short term goals for all areas of responsibility.
- Develops, implements and directs the continuous quality improvement program.
- Identifies educational needs and requirements for all staff.
- Professional Development
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

As a key member of the Nutrition and Food Services management team, this position has the primary responsibility for providing leadership and direction for the provision of the nutritional care and food services at the participating Health Care sites.

**Experience**:

- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Healthcare Food Services Management.
- Extensive knowledge of food services in health care across all sectors including knowledge and rationale for therapeutic diets and familiarity with chilled meal assembly and distribution.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions and regulations.
- Extensive knowledge of financial reporting/statements and calculating labour costs.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation affecting operation of central procurement, assembly and warewashing facilities.

**Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)**:

- Degree in Human Nutritional Sciences (Dietetics).
- DC Accredited Dietetic Internship.
- Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) or Safe Food Handler Certificate or Equivalent.

**Certification/Licensure/Registration**:

- Must be eligible for membership in CDM (College of Dietitians of Manitoba).
- Must be a member of Dietitians of Canada (DC).

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Must be innovative, flexible, highly motivated and an adaptable team player
- Planning, implementing and problem-solving skills are essential
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills
- Knowledge of Human Resource practices and procedures within a unionized environment.
- Must have excellent organizational skills, conceptual and analytical skills.
- Must have or be able to acquire in a reasonable period of time a thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and Department of Labour regulations applicable to area of supervision.
