The Mint is hiring a Director Environment, Safety, Employee Health & Wellbeing who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment. Reporting to the Vice President Human Resources, you will be responsible to champion the innovative design and proactive deployment of environmental, health, safety, and employee wellbeing programs contributing to a positive and supportive work environment across the Mint.

**Your Responsibilities**:

- Provide direction and leadership in the delivery of health and safety, employee wellbeing and environmental programs.
- Foster a continuous improvement mindset to ensure the Mint’s performance meets or exceeds all regulatory, legal, and ethical standards, objectives, and requirements.
- Foster employee engagement and builds a positive work environment by guiding team members and supporting their professional growth.
- Promote teamwork and psychological safety, encouraging healthy partnerships and building confidence in the department.
- Work closely with internal partners to identify and address any hazardous situations.
- Ensures that mandatory training programs for environmental, health, and safety are developed and delivered to employees to advance a proactive environmental and safety mindset at the Mint.Ensures the continuous improvement of the Mint’s Environmental Management System (EMS) to meet the ISO 14001:2015 standard.

This is a hybrid position in which you will be required to work from the Ottawa location generally on an average of 3 days or more per week.

**Qualifications**:
**Language Requirements**
- Bilingual in both official languages (English and French) with very strong written and oral communication and presentation abilities.

**Education**
- University Degree in Sciences, Engineering or related field and/or a Diploma in occupational health and safety combined with sufficient work experience.
- A professional designation: Professional Engineer (P.Eng), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or other relevant Canadian certification, accreditation or designation.

**Experience**
- Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in an industrial environment with progressive management experience.
- Experience in leading a team of health, safety, and environmental professionals, preferably in multiple locations.
- Experience in presenting strategic content at a senior executive level.
- Experience working in a unionized environment is considered a strong asset.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities in a changing environment.
- Good knowledge of ISO 14001:2015.
