**Summary of Duties**:
Reporting to the Vice President, Technical Support Branch and Chief Science Officer, the Director General of the Directorate of Safety Management operates in a complex regulatory environment that is rapidly evolving as new players and technology enter the nuclear industry landscape. They will provide leadership to a scientific, technical and regulatory management team to ensure alignment with CNSC’s objectives, while directing the implementation of specialized technical assessments to support regulatory decision making.
The DG, DSM is supported by a management team responsible for delivering on a mandate in support of licensing and compliance activities. The direct reports include:
- Director, Management Systems Division
- Director, Personnel Certification Division
- Director, Human and Organizational Performance Division
- Director, Training Program Evaluation Division
- Administrative Assistant
- Planning Officer
**Essential Qualifications**:
**Education**:
Graduation with a Bachelor degree from a recognized university in a related field of study.
**Language Requirements**:
Bilingual imperative with a proficiency at CBC level. If you are unsure of your proficiency level, we encourage you to take a self-assessment here.
**Experience**:
- Significant* experience effectively communicating technical or regulatory information to a wide variety of audiences in public and/or quasi-judicial settings
- Experience attracting and retaining a multi-disciplinary team of professionals
- Experience managing budgets and financial resources, relating to operating, project, and capital expenditures at the executive level
- Experience in championing and leading change initiatives across the organizational boundaries to achieve a new operational efficiency or to strengthen regulatory decision-making
- Significant* experience in leading the planning, delivery, performance review and reporting of a regulatory, science or technical program or operation
- Significant is defined in terms of degree of depth, scope, and duration (normally associated with at least 2 years of experience at the EX-02 group and level or equivalent)
