**WHO WE ARE**:
Royal York Road United Church is an active and welcoming neighbourhood church, located in Etobicoke, 20 minutes from downtown Toronto and an easy walking distance from the Royal York subway station. Our church building is well-maintained and accessible to the many members of our congregation and tenant groups who enjoy its warm and inclusive atmosphere. Our beautiful, traditional, sanctuary is active each Sunday for worship and most of our other rooms and spaces are busy servicing a variety of group meetings, classes and other activities throughout the week.

**PURPOSE OF THE JOB**:
As the Church Coordinator, you will be the first person to extend a warm welcome to the many members and visitors who enter our church building. This carries with it the expectation that you will become known as the consistently helpful, friendly, yet discreet, face of our church office.

Working as an integral member of our staff team, which includes our Minister and Director of Music, as well as our custodial support staff, you will utilize your excellent administrative skills to contribute to the effective planning and delivery of our worship services. As well, you will coordinate with our various Church organizations and tenant groups to ensure the smooth operation of their meetings, special events, communications projects and activities.

Through your progressively rich work experience, you will have developed a proficiency with Microsoft 365, relevant Google platforms and, ideally, the use of design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite. We are looking to expand our use of these tools to create greater efficiencies within our administrative and communication processes. As our new Coordinator, we welcome your ability to analyze administrative work processes and work with us in the use of new technology solutions.

**JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The Church Coordinator’s responsibilities fall within four general categories:
Office Administration (40%), Bookkeeping Support (10%), Communications (25%) and Facilities Coordination (25%). A listing of specific job duties can be found under Church Coordinator Job Description on our website at ryru.ca.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education and Experience**
- Post-Secondary education, or the equivalent work experience necessary to attain the essential skills for this position.
- Proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft 365 (primarily Word and Excel).
- Experience working with all Google platforms.
- Proficiency working with church management software (e.g., Power Church), would be an asset.
- Working knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
- Experience with programs such as WordPress, Adobe Creative Cloud and MailChimp, would be a definite asset.
- Working knowledge of bookkeeping, and experience working with computerized accounting software.
- Orientation and training will be provided, as required.

- Proven ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy during all interactions.
- Demonstrated experience working in a collegial team environment.
- Strong English grammar and spelling; accuracy is essential, as is the ability to proofread one’s own work.
- Highly developed organizational skills, with concurrent attention to detail.
- Proven ability to multi-task in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking.
- Strong ethics, honesty, and professionalism.

**Hours of Work**
- This position is full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Occasional evening and Sunday morning work may be required.
- The role is currently classified as ‘on-site’ due to the personal interactions required and the many ‘hands on” aspects of the job.
- Occasional remote work may be possible in the future, but no assurances should be assumed from this statement.

**Additional Information**
- We offer a salary commensurate with experience.
- The position is eligible for Pension, Sick Leave, and Benefits, in accordance with the policies of the United Church of Canada.
- RYRUC is easily accessible by TTC, however a parking space is provided on-site.
