**) Technology Advisor Supervisor**. This position is responsible for investigating and advising on educational and distributed learning technologies for the benefit of BCIT programs, students, management and support departments. This position provides technical expertise, co-ordination, support and training to these groups in the use of current and evolving technology-based learning systems. Training and supervising distributed learning technical support personnel as well as prioritizing, coordinating and delegating work, are also key responsibilities in this position.

**RESPONSIBILITIES***:
- Researches new and evolving technologies including testing and experimentation.
- Formulates recommendations as to the implementation of new educational technologies and/or systems to support teaching and learning.
- Reports and advises on educational technology infrastructure (e.g., opportunities, issues and challenges).
- Advises course developers and designers as to which technologies can be used to solve specific teaching and learning challenges and how to implement them.
- Contributes to best use practices, guidelines, and manuals for the use of educational technology and related systems.
- Advises BCIT personnel on the use of e-learning educational technologies.
- Represents BCIT on provincial committees and projects working in the area of educational technology, e.g., C2T2 Educational Technology Users Group (ETUG).
- Represents the educational technology perspective on institute committees tasked with the implementation of Information Technology and Educational Technology infrastructure solutions.
- Networks with external institutions as appropriate to the position description.
- Represents BCIT, as a participant, presenter and or invited speaker at conferences, focus groups and working sessions in the area of educational technologies.
- Contributes to the development of, and delivers training workshops for BCIT faculty, staff and external clients on the use of educational technologies.
- Contributes to the development of, and delivers orientation and training to BCIT students in the use of distributed learning and educational technologies.
- Contributes to the development of project proposals, identifying appropriate technologies, including capabilities and associated costs of new technologies and software.
- Manages projects related to the investigation and implementation of new distributed learning systems.
- Orients, co-ordinates and trains staff on the implementation of new distributed learning systems.
- Identifies and develops educational technology funding opportunities.
- Identifies and develops opportunities to enhance BCIT projects (internal and external) with educational technologies.
- Liaises with ITS, Registration, and other related BCIT support departments to support BCIT’s distributed learning initiatives.
- Trains and supervises distributed learning technical support staff by providing overall guidance, direction
- and support, determining priorities and training needs, coordinating and delegating work for specific projects, monitoring performance and conducting performance appraisals.
- Participates in Records Custodian training and remains current with record keeping practices, policies and procedures (both BCIT and FOIPOP)
- Undertakes related duties as assigned, consistent with the job grade of this position.

- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
**Other Skills/Abilities**:
- Demonstrated ability to research, summarize and present clear and concise data to answer specific questions. Proven ability to conduct industry related research, make recommendations and prepare and present reports. Demonstrated ability to understand and address the needs of off-campus learners.
