**Position Highlights**
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an IT Advisor in the Operational Technology (OT) Services team within the
Technology Business Solutions & Services Division. Part of this multidisciplinary team’s responsibilities includes ensuring
that the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) compliance
processes and requirements are met, and for ensuring cyber security principles are applied in BC Hydro Generation
Stations.

**What you'll do**
- Investigate, analyze, and solve a variety of system problems in implementation and support of Generation plant industrial

networks, intelligent electronic device (IED) integration and plant NERC CIP processes.
- Evaluate and recommend technical designs or improvements related to plant industrial networks. Activities include

planning, design, implementation and testing in accordance with CIP Standards and engineering best practices.
- Troubleshoot problems related to communications, infrastructure, operating systems, databases, and software related to
- Provide ongoing support to plant and maintenance personnel during upgrades to the plant industrial network

infrastructure.
- Develop, implement, and maintain procedures, programs, processes, internal controls, work instructions and reports,

associated with the assigned standards to ensure ongoing OT cybersecurity programs are well defined and executed.
- Work closely with BC Hydro Cybersecurity, Engineering design teams and IT service providers to execute required tasks.
- Work with vendors to solve infrastructure, system, or device related problems.
- Represent the team and provide technical expertise during periodic cybersecurity reviews.
- Ensure NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Compliance processes are correctly interpreted, understood, and

compliance evidence is successfully delivered by operational, project delivery and maintenance activities.
- Leverage existing tools and/or advocate for systems and tools to support more effective and efficient cybersecurity

tracking and coordination.
- Track progress and report on status of assigned work including status of sub-tasks assigned to other departments, field

works and vendors.
** What you bring**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent combination of education and

experience may be considered.
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience supporting cybersecurity and OT network infrastructure design (example

could be network segmentation, patching programs, security controls and/or vulnerability assessment).
- In-depth knowledge of operational and information technologies and systems in the areas of (1) intelligent electronic

device (IED), firmware and software typically used in electric utilities for industrial control and data acquisition. These
include but not limited to PLC, RTU, DCS, SCADA, Protection and Control devices, and (2) firewalls, networking, and cyber
security technologies, including non-IP protocols, LAN, firewalls, IDS/IPS and; tools for IT and OT asset discovery and
asset management.
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, principles, governance, processes and systems utilized in electric

utilities.
- Demonstrated experience of effective communication including proactive status reporting, meeting facilitation,

presentation skills, including the ability to convey complex technical or procedural issues to diverse audiences.
- Strong relationship management, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of audit requirements, including the ability to analyze compliance quality, accuracy and adequacy.
