The Assistant Front Desk Manager is responsible for assisting the Front Desk Manager. Their assistance includes leading and managing all sections of the Front Desk Department in order to ensure the highest standards. An AFDM monitors the Front Desk employees to make sure all guests receive prompt and personal recognition. They take care of the front desk operation including guest registration, room assignment and check-out procedures. Furthermore an Assistant Front Desk Manager assists the Front Desk Manager in employee related matters such as evaluations and consulting.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

- Trains, cross-trains, and retrains all front desk personnel.
- Participates in the selection of front desk personnel.
- Schedules the front desk staff.
- Supervises workload during shifts.
- Evaluates the job performance of each front desk employee.
- Maintains working relationships and communicates with all departments.
- Maintains master key control.
- Verifies that accurate room status information is maintained and properly communicated.
- Resolves guest problems quickly, efficiently, and courteously.
- Updates group information. Maintains, monitors, and prepares group requirements. Relays information to appropriate personnel.
- Works within the allocated budget for the front desk.
- Receives information from the previous shift and passes on pertinent details to the oncoming shift.
- Enforces all cash-handling, check-cashing, and credit policies.
- Conducts regularly scheduled meetings of front desk personnel.
- Wears the proper uniform at all times. Requires all front desk employees to wear proper uniforms at all times.
- Upholds the hotel's commitment to hospitality.
- Prepare performance reports related to front desk.
- Monitor high balance guest and take appropriate action.
- Ensure implementation of all hotel policies and house rules.
- Operate all aspects of Front Desk computer system, including software maintenance, report generation and analysis, and simple configuration changes.
- Prepare revenue and occupancy forecasting.
- Ensure logging and delivery of all messages, packages, and mail in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure that employees are, at all times, attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and other employees.
- Monitor all V.I.P 's special guests and requests.
- Maintain required pars of all front desk and stationary supplies.
- Review daily front desk work and activity reports generated by Night Audit.
- Review Front Desk log book and Guest feedback forms on a daily basis.
- Maintain an organized and comprehensive filing system with documentation of purchases, vouchering, schedules, forecasts, reports and tracking logs.
- Perform duties of the Front Desk Agent as required.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required**
- prior experience in a leadership role
- 1-2 years experience in a comparable position in a luxury hotel operation
- excellent communication skills in all aspects
- professional and appropriate business appearance and presentation;
- excellent knowledge of all aspects of Front Desk Operations;
- excellent organizational and administrative skills;
- excellent guest service and problem resolution skills;
- the flexibility to meet the demands of a 24 hour operation;
- the ability to work comprehensively with spreadsheets and budgeting packages.
- First Aid and CPR Certification as required.
- The capacity to create and execute innovative strategies that will drive the hotel to exceed guest satisfaction and revenue.
