The **Dispatcher **prepares, organizes and tracks deliveries to customers ensuring effective coordination of drivers, yard and plant personnel to meet customer delivery requirements. This role also assists walk-in customers, defining materials requirements and supports the inventory control process as required.

**Responsibilities**
- Organize and coordinate deliveries using a combination of our fleet and the use of a transportation broker
- Prepare and coordinate timely and cost-effective delivery routes and maintain contact with drivers throughout the day.
- Collaborate with co-workers to modify daily routes/deliveries to accommodate the needs of our customers.
- Act as a communication liaison with drivers and yard foreman through the two-way radio and cell phone
- Cultivate strong relationship with drivers and customers to reduce the stress that comes with last minute schedule changes
- Receive and dispatch orders for products
- Assist customers at the counter and over the phone
- Prepare loading bills, delivery tickets and/or invoices as required
- Take customer orders over the phone and/or in person and calculate customer material requirements
- Answer incoming calls and assist or direct calls as required
- Complete and maintain documents generated as required
- Prepare Point of sale (POS) daily cash receipts log
- Participate in physical inventory count as required

**Qualifications**
- High School Diploma with a minimum of 2 yrs. experience in dispatching ideally within the building materials or related work environment
- Proven problem-solving skills to be able to prioritize between competing tasks and think quickly on your feet with a decisive and assertive style
- Strong communication skills including the ability to listen and speak clearly and effectively to others by radio and phone
- Proven customer service orientation demonstrating a positive and professional attitude towards customers at all times
- Works well under pressure with a proven ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively
- Effective leadership skills and ability to effectively adapt to change demonstrating a high level of flexibility
- Keen attention to detail and effective organizational skills
- Enthusiastic and dependable with a commitment to quality work and initiative including identifying/reporting errors and taking the necessary action to prevent recurrence
- Collaborative personality that demonstrates teamwork and respect within the workplace
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
- Bilingual (English & French) is an asset
