**WORKING RELATIONSHIPS**
- Supervise the Housekeeping/Janitorial, Maintenance Staff
- Reports to the Director
- Co-Chair of the Health and Safety Committee

**RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES**

1. Supervise and provide day-to-day direction to the Housekeeping/Janitorial, Maintenance Staff, in accordance with established policies and procedures including the Collective Agreements, legislative and payroll procedures or requirements.
- Schedule, conduct and document supervision.
- Conduct Performance Reviews and Evaluations.
- Chair and minute regular team meetings.
- Provide back-up support to these positions and their functions as required.

2. Oversee the day-to-day operation of Florence Booth House
- Ensure clients receive proper Customer Service while relating to the Support Services Staff.
- Read daily the logbooks and make necessary follow-up.
- Monitor and implement the Centre Fire, Pandemic and Emergency Disaster Plans.
- Responsible for the security of the facility
- To ensure weekly inspections are carried out for the facility and report any deficiencies or concerns to the Director.
- To develop, monitor and maintain the Preventative Maintenance programs and related contracts
- To update and maintain the building inventory.
- To oversee the Linen contracts.
- To oversee the building lease.
- To oversee the services and preventative scheduling for the mechanical equipment, HVAC system, telephone system, IT, video, security and alarm system.
- To ensure the facility van is maintained and repairs are carried out as necessary.
- As requested, participate in the development, planning and coordination of all centre activities and special events in conjunction with the Assistant Director.
- Ensure that cleaning and food service delivery are conducted in keeping with Public Health, Hostel Standards and Occupational Health & Safety standards and requirements
- Prepare and post weekly menus ensuring they are dietician-approved as nutritionally balanced
- Approve menu changes proposed by food services personnel
- Give oversight to requests for refreshments and meals for program activities/ meetings

3. To assist the Director with the administration of the Hostel.
- Active member of the Management Team and attend all meetings.
- Participates in the planning, developing, and executing the strategic plan.
- Ensures the facility is complying and meeting the standards for Health & Safety, Public Health, the Quality Assurance, and the Accreditation which includes reviewing all Incident Reports pertaining to property and Health & Safety issues, making any follow-up and put necessary notations on the appropriate file as well as inform the Director of any potential risks.
- Negotiates contracts for approval by administration (i.e., HVAC, water treatment, electrical, major repairs/renovations, and new construction).
- Attend Committee and Agency meetings are directed by the Director.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Policies and Procedures as they relate to environmental services and the health and safety of the facilities.
- Keep the facilities supplied with the Environmental Services supplies and other materials.
- On call duties 24/7 for emergency building issues and for the Florence Booth House

4. To assist management with the Finances
- Assist with the monitoring of financial expenditures as per yearly budget projections as they relate to environmental services.

5. To assist Human Relations
- To participate in the recruitment, selection, and orientation for the Support Services staff.
- Recommends disciplinary actions including termination in conjunction with the Executive Assistant Director, Director, Human Relations, THQ/DHQ standards and the collective agreements.
- Organize and assist with staff training in accordance with the facility policies.

6. To assist the Director to ensure that all Health and Safety requirements specific to the facilities follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- To be the Management Co-Chair for the Health & Safety Committee with the responsibility to report any serious problems or infractions to the Director or designate.
- To perform workplace inspections.
- To conduct information sessions (safety talks, staff meetings).
- To conduct incident investigations.
- To conduct employee health and safety training.
- To make recommendations and/or correct substandard acts or conditions.
- To commend employee health and safety performance.
- To perform employee safety observations.
- To ensure compliance with specific Hostel requirements within sections 25 & 26 of the OHSA.
