Sports Referee (Part Time)

Start Date: Immediately
**Salary**: $15.00/hr - $17.33/hr

What qualifications are we looking for?
- Comprehensive knowledge of the sport of basketball;
- Prior playing, refereeing and/or coaching experience;
- Basketball Referee Certifications are an asset;
- Current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months);
- Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search;
- Three professional references required.
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Provide basketball refereeing for the YMCA basketball leagues for ages 9-14;
- Teach and enforce the game rules of basketball;
- Make modifications to game rules of basketball based on the age of the participants, skill levels and time during the season;
- Ensure enjoyment, game flow and equal participation;
- Organize participants so that games begin and end on time;
- Communicate with the game day coaches on an ongoing basis;
- Be available for tournaments three times a year;
- Assist the Sport Supervisor in other areas as required.
