Sports Referee (Part Time)

Start Date: Immediately
**Salary**: $15.00/hr - $17.85/hr

What qualifications are we looking for?
Prior playing, refereeing and/or coaching experience
Basketball Referee Certifications are an asset
Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Duties and responsibilities include:Provide basketball refereeing for the YMCA basketball leagues for ages 9-14
Teach and enforce the game rules of basketball
Make modifications to game rules of basketball based on the age of the participants, skill levels and time during the season
Ensure enjoyment, game flow and equal participation
Organize participants so that games begin and end on time
Communicate with the game day coaches on an ongoing basis
Be available for tournaments three times a year
Assist the Sport Supervisor in other areas as required
