**The start date will follow the selection process.**

This position is eligible to work remotely on a part-time basis.

**Main Function**: Co-ordinate and process Occupational and Non Occupational illness/injury claims.

**Characteristic Duties**: Under the general supervision of the Rehabilitation And Claims Specialist.
- Co-ordinate the day-to-day processing of all Workers’ Compensation Claims, including the review of all submissions from all Departments (e.g. Treatment Memorandums, Accident/Incident Reports, etc.), and liaise with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board as required.
- Maintain electronic database on all occupational injuries and non-occupational disability claims (Parklane), producing statistical reports as directed by the Rehabilitation and Claims Specialist.
- Co-ordinate the day to day processing of all Sick Leave, Weekly Indemnity and Long Term Disability Claims, including form review, and liaison with Departments and insurers. Act as agent for the carrier in reviewing all confidential medical forms submitted by Departments.
- Manage both occupational and non-occupational disability cases, including return to work programs for the first six months of absence for all non-complex claims. Make recommendations to the Rehabilitation and Claims Specialist for treatment referrals. Refer all complex claims to the Rehabilitation and Claims Specialist.
- Review with the Rehabilitation and Claims Specialist those occupational and non-occupational cases requiring early intervention and/or special review by the Rehabilitation and Claims Specialist or consulting services. Request additional medical evidence when necessary or as required by the carrier.
- Keep the Rehabilitation and Claims Specialist apprised of all Workers’ Compensation matters on a regular basis.
- Advise the Rehabilitation and Claims Specialist of absences for the purposes of continuance of benefits in accordance with the various Collective Bargaining Agreements, Non Union Policies and the Income Protection Plan.
- Work closely with the Payroll Section regarding absences processing for payroll purposes.
- Monitor long-term absences, keeping the Rehabilitation and Claims Specialist abreast of ongoing circumstances.
- Provide confidential administrative support to the Rehabilitation and Claims Specialist (e.g. related to Disability Management including producing reports, tracking rehabilitation invoices, WSIB cost statements and invoices).
- Calculate WI benefit levels, providing documentation to the carrier as required. Verify, record, and distribute WI Claims payments.
- Accurately process pension service and earnings reporting related to all disability leaves in accordance with the OMERS Act and Pension Benefits Act.
- Assemble appropriate background, history, procedures, etc. for use by sectional staff at various meetings and/or in response to correspondence as directed.
- Relieve the Rehabilitation and Claims Officer, and assist other Employees in the Human Resources and Organizational Development Division in the performance of their duties during periods of overload, vacation, absence or as directed.
- Assist in the organization of the annual Employee Recognition Gala as needed.
- Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS’s Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
- Perform other related duties as required.

**Qualifications**:
**Education and Training**:

- Successful completion of Secondary School Education with some post Secondary Education in a related discipline (e.g. Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, Disability Management).
- Additional education initiatives to update and expand competencies.
- Additional courses in disability management considered an asset.
- Knowledge of the Parklane system considered an asset.

**Experience**:

- Minimum of two (2) years of responsible and related experience, preferably in WSIB and disability claims management.

**Knowledge Of**:

- Highly competent in disability claim case management, both occupational and non-occupational.

**Abilities To**:

- Demonstrate organizational ability.
- Demonstrate excellent report writing skills and ability to maintain detailed case notes.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills and interpersonal skills dealing with people, outside groups, and agencies.
- Demonstrate ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
- Focus and show great attention to detail despite constant distractions and interruptions.
