The Cash Manager takes responsibility for fostering culture, advancing NFM values, and championing engagement in all its forms within the Cash Department. They lead by example to ensure their team represents and embraces NFM customer service and culture, and ensure departmental goals align with store and corporate goals by demonstrating strong leadership and managerial skills.

**CASH DEPARTMENT MANAGER **Temporary 6 months**

**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:
Leadership:

- Set an example for all other cashiers by demonstrating exemplary customer service, strong work ethic, and dedication to the industry
- Manage team members, documenting and communicating their progress through the entire employee life cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, coaching for development and performance management.
- Ensure high levels of engagement within the team in relation to our mission, values and culture.
- Collaborate with the store management team which includes all other Department Managers, Assistant Store Manager and Store Manager.
- Oversee the daily activities and operational and organization standards of the department, delegating and assigning tasks as needed.
- Support long-term growth and development plans for team members; mentor and support department team leaders in leading the cash team.
- Be the ambassador of product knowledge and product roll out to create excitement within the team and to ensure cash team members can engage customers about our products.

Operational:

- Work in collaboration with the store’s Manager and Assistant Manager to monitor department staffing requirements, including the creation of department schedules, Requests for Time Off, staff to customer ratio, etc.
- Learn and memorize all produce codes, check that pin pads have not been tampered with, ensure that the cash area is kept tidy and presentable at all times
- Train new staff proper bagging techniques
- Manage all aspects of the front end: customer complaints, prize draws, signage, lost and found, ensuring cashiers give optimal customer service, and disciplinary action as needed.
- Ability and desire to lead by example and create a positive, supportive working environment for your team
- Encourage open communication between all department members

- Passion for organic food and natural medicine and loves the retail and grocery industry
- Excellent leadership, communication and technology skills
- Strong work ethic with a positive, team minded attitude
- A great attitude and love working in a fast-paced environment
- Minimum of 2 years previous cash experience
- Previous experience managing people required
- A good sense of humor with the ability to laugh at yourself
