Reporting to an Ontario Works Supervisor, the Ontario Works Agent determines eligibility for financial assistance and stability supports forindividuals and families while maintaining confidentiality.

This is a contract opportunity until December 31, 2024.

**Responsibilities**:

- Performs the responsibilities of the position within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the applicable Provincial and Municipal Acts. Performs the responsibilities of the position consistent with the Operational policies of the County of Renfrew.
- Ensures all reports and files are accurate and up to date. Maintains applicable caseload records and documentation. Ensures case notes and data input into SAMS are accurate and meet provincial standards.
- Schedules regular meetings with clients to review participation agreements and to ensure all forms are up to date and fields in SAMS are correctly populated to issue accurate entitlements to clients.
- Engages the participant in a goal setting process to increase their stability and employability and ensures the Outcome Plan is updated regularly.
- Develops and supports working relationships with referral agencies, partners and other community stakeholders. Identifies gaps in services and works to enhance community capacity and social inclusion.
- Assists individuals and families with accessing other County of Renfrew programs - ie. Homelessness Prevention Program, Child Care Fee Subsidy, Ontario Renovates, Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit, Subsidized Housing.
- Protects own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety. Follows all guidelines for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.

**Qualifications**:

- University Degree or Post Secondary Diploma in a social services or related human services field.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Computer literacy required.
- Good organizational, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
- Basic knowledge of social assistance and income support/supplement programs.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team-oriented organization.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $38.59-$43.44 per hour
