**Material Recovery Facility Lead Hand**

**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
The MRF Lead Hand is responsible for management of workflow throughout all business transactions within the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Plant operations. The MRF Lead Hand works as a member of the MRF Plant and reports to the MRF Plant Operations Manager.

**ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Manage daily schedule of employees and operations.
- Enforces Company regulations, policies and procedures.
- Oversee employee performance; evaluate each employee and provide them with any training they may need.
- Manage & Perform daily operations on the floor - assisting on equipment, directing operators and getting in the equipment if required.
- Maintain a constant cleaning & maintenance schedule with team prior to shift, during downtown and daily during shifts.
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations to continue to improve production and efficiency.
- Keep inventory of all supplies needed to complete each shift’s daily goals - PPE, cleaning supplies, etc.
- Other duties performed as assigned
- **Health & Safety**_
- Ensure that each new employee has received a Health and Safety orientation and plant tour _before _beginning work.
- Ensure that each employee receives required personal protective equipment (PPE) _before _starting work.
- Responsible to ensure that all employees are always adhering to the health and safety program and to report all incidents/accidents immediately to Supervisor.
- Conduct documented Site Safety Observations. Promptly report and/or correct any hazards that you find.
- Observe employees working. Promptly correct any unsafe behavior, provide training and take corrective action as necessary.
- Participate in incidents/accident investiagtions and report your findings to your Operation Manager
- Conduct Safety talks as required.
- **Human Resource Management**_
- Train, develop, and motivate employees
- Assist employees with day to day issues
- Participate in engagement plans and activities to motivate employees
- Conduct evaluations (performance reviews) as required
- Ensure employees are qualified to perform their duties

**Other**

Assist with the management of day to day repairs and maintenance by corresponding with approved vendors & maintenance team.

Assist with daily transportation of materials, paperwork to ensure a constant flow of information to the administration team etc.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bilingual in English and French would be an asset not required.
- Knowledge of recycling collection preferred.
- Ability to lead and manage a diverse workforce.
- Ability to work indoors/ outdoors all year round.
- Experience in a plant setting would be an asset.
