Prerequisites
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- Post secondary education in Labour Relations, Industrial Relations, Commerce, Human Resources or another related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a unionized environment.
- Minimum 3 years of transportation industry experience
- Experience in Collective Bargaining and managing the administration of Collective Agreements within a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written and listening).
- Strong analytical and dispute resolution capabilities.
- Ability to develop and manage solid working relationships.
- Valid driver’s licence
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization
- No criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted

Direct Responsibilities
- Coordinate, plan, and support the Collective Bargaining process.
- Negotiate or be involved in the negotiations of Collective Agreements on behalf of the Company in accordance with policies and approved budgetary constraints.
- Monitor and advise on the administration and interpretation of the Collective Agreement and Human Resources policies on behalf of the Company.
- Manage and maintain systems and records related to labour relations.
- Manage the relationship between the company, its employees, and the union, ensuring the organization is in full compliance with all relevant legislation (i.e., Human Rights, Employment Equity, Occupational Health and Safety, as well as Employment and Labour Legislation).
- Assist in JHSC development, and setting up schedules for inspections and meetings
- Attend JHSC meetings, and advising committee on recommendations
- Work with team to maintain the WHMIS/SDS system
- Conduct safety audits to ensure Health and Safety requirements are being met
- Ensure facilities have adequate number of First Aid certified employees per shift
- Track and graph all safety accidents and incidents for all locations, providing monthly and annual report to management
- Maintain and update the Contractor Packages and Clearance Certificates
- Develop, monitor Safety Talks for all locations
- Assist with the development of safety manuals, bulletins, brochures, forms and presentations
- Conduct training needs analyses with onsite managers to determine appropriate and necessary training.
- Oversee all onsite elements of WSIB claims and requirements
- Advise and lead the Human Resources department and management in all matters related to labour relations.
- Act as a liaison between the Company and its employees, both unionized and non-unionized.
- Respond to all issues and inquiries relating to labour relations within the legislated time.
- Participate in and encourage creative conflict resolution strategies.
- Mediate labour disputes, grievances, and arbitration processes as necessary in accordance with both legislative requirements and company policies.
- Identify, recommend, and prepare any required employee training.**Salary**: From $80,000.00 per year
